I have it on good authority that the MFC are shopping Jack Watts around, with Adelaide and Gold Coast the leading contenders.

I cannot believe we are seriously considering trading Jack.

If the MFC could properly develop Jack he will be an out and out A Grader.

Jack needs to be locked inside a gym for the whole of pre-season and force feed to build his frame.

The only thing Jack needs to be a gun is muscle and strength.

He has elite skills and elite vision.

He needs to be up around the 98 kg mark and he will dominate games as a key mobile forward.

I also have it on good authority that he doesn't want to be traded and that he wants to stay a Demon, unlike others.

As such we need to keep players that actually want to stay at the club, as this may prove difficult moving forward.

I will be furious if we trade Jack against his will when it's been our fault that we haven't been able to properly develop him to his optimum.

I like Jack, and I desperately hope he finds success.

That being said, I'm willing to do whatever it takes to improve.

I like jack but he shits me so much with the lack of hunger and urgency around the ball. TBH wouldn't even mind.

If the out come exceeds the loss, I'm happy to lose Jack. If Danger comes for Pick 3 and watts its a big win for the club. If we get pick 12 for Trenners and get Mitchell its another win for the club.

Personifies everything we're trying to move on from. Not hard enough at the ball, doesn't put his body on the line, jogs halfarsedly from contest to contest but provides no legitimate leads, and falls over at the faintest sign of a breeze.

Love his community work though.

As I have said I'm disappointed Trengove has been put up for trade and IMO Watts should be traded before Trenners. Watts had minimal if any improvement last year and really it just isn't going to happen, he just doesn't have the desire to make it at this level

I can almost justify the Trengove deal IF it helps net us an A grade player. I can't see the wisdom at all in moving on Watts.

He is the sort of class player that teams in the premiership window bring in eg Burgoyne, Dal Santo, etc.

Sure, if we think we'll be rubbish forever, then move on Watts and anyone else with top end talent, and we'll have a team of good honest battlers. But if we expect to be playing finals in a few years, players such as Watts will be critifcal in that.

It appears Anderson's tweet was on the money if this is true & we are clearly working on getting really big fish, not just draft picks.

Much rather trade out Watts than Trengove.

And this line - 'If the MFC could properly develop Jack he will be an out and out A Grader'... surely you are trolling? That may have been true once upon a time but he's too far gone now and just damaged goods. This season confirmed it for me - he can't be much more than he is right now, and if they are shopping him around Roos must be thinking similarly.

Here comes another 50-page thread of nothing posts. Like this one.

Even more if this rumour's got any basis in fact whatsoever.

Trade period, what did you expect?

Comparing watts to Burgoyne (one of the toughest skinny players ever) & dal santo? Really! They've contributed to grand finals mate & dal may look slow but they both impact contests a 10000% more than Watts.

Size or development won't make any difference Tex because Jack doesn't have an appetite for the contest or desire to throw his weight around.

His 2nd efforts are non-existent. Remember watching Dawes run past Watts this year to put on a tackle? You don't suddenly develop a desire to tackle and hurt the opposition.

Watts is a basketballer and if we can get something of value for him I'd be rapt.

Set of steak Knives is his current worth be prepared to be furious he wants to stay a demon because he still thinks the club will continue to put up with pathetic performances that he continues to exhibit

I would just like to say at this point that Jack has been demonstrably loyal to the club over the years.

And for the love of god, can we stop creating a new thread for every second rumour that we hear?

This is an unsubstantiated rumour about a 'potential trade', just post it in the potential trades thread.

Roos will move on Trengove, Watts and Toumpas, because they don't have what it takes.

Mentally, they are just not up to it.

It is a shame, but I expect Roos will move on them and get whatever he can.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
