Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I don't think it's a case of intercepting, more like picking it up off the ground where it's lying broken.

interestingly put.

Smoke and mirrors

It's disrespectful to be considering Beams IMHO, if his dad is in remission i think he's going there no matter what.

Pick 3+Pick 12 or Trenners + 23 over to Adelaide for Dangerfield and pick 50

Trade pick 50 for Frost

He's not going there "no matter what" - Collingwood have said the deal with Brisbane is dead in the water because the Lions won't make an offer that is satisfactory.

I'm not too precious about players, as all I want is to see the Red and Blue up there again....and we ain't gonna get there by being too sentimental.

Having said that I would rather keep Trengove the player rather than draft a young kid.

If the deal is being considered to help us get something bigger, then I'm all for it.

The club belongs to US we are the members of the club and we are the constant. The players and personnel come and go but we support the front of the jumper not the back. I want to see MFC holding the cup I don't care which players are doing it as long as they wear navy blue with the red yoke.

Yet we canonize the great man Robbie and are happy for Trenners who has shown us loyalty in his short career to be traded?

Mate, there's no connection between Beams and Clark. The circumstances in which the trades are conducted is similar, but that's it. There's nothing to suggest this will turn out the same way because they're not the same person - unless you know something about Beams that you're not sharing.

Nope, merely based on what we know of the circumstances. Noises about wanting, indeed needing, to go to Queensland to be close to his family. If anything those noises have been a lot louder than they were with Clark, given it's not home sickness but an illness in the family. I'm hugely wary of nabbing him given those circumstances.

Not that it makes it right, but he wouldn't be the first loyal player in AFL history to be traded away in pursuit of someone better.

Think of all the loyal Swans players that abandoned ship after the Buddy deal. Mumford, Malceski are just the beginning... but it got them into a grand final.

If my dad had cancer and went into remission (for whatever the term 'remission' is worth) I'd sure as he'll want to be close to him.

I would too and no doubt that is the preference - but I think a large part is also the fact he simply wants out of the Pies. If he can't get to Queensland then what does that leave him with? GWS was mentioned but they are running out of cap space apparently and Sydney aren't allowed to trade anyone in.

If he can't get to the Lions it's clear he's burnt his bridges at the Pies, not attending the B&F was the last straw you'd assume.

Somebody mentioned that we are planning to use pick 12 for Jake Lever. Not that l object to this as a replacement for Chip but what happened to plans for Oscar McDonald or were there none? With all the trading , FS used for Billy and Jetta upgrade, will we have any live picks in the draft apart from 1, 2 & 12?

I think Oscar McDonald is a demon land fantasy isn't it? A bit like Zak Jones.

We only need 3 live picks from memory, but once we delist a few we will have a few more.

I'm not against that theory, but doesn't that mean we're being hypocritical as fans? Not saying you are one to blow up at players for not being loyal though.

I'm not for trading Trengove. Don't think it sends great messages to players and I like rewarding players for loyalty. Especially given that it seems he doesn't want to go. Don't think it's great for a club that's trying to build a culture.

But footy is going that way and I can understand why.

My problem with trading Trengove is he represents the the essence of the damaged player due to the cancerous MFC culture over the past few years. Talented kid, showed promise and then given the captaincy during a period that wouldn't have been hard for a battle-hardened verteren. I like a good story and I want so bad for JT to turn out to be champion for us. I want us to stick by him.

I also don't see the point in the trade unless it gets us gun player. Beams would be the kind of player I mean.

Roos says we don't want a pack of kids coming in. Why swap JT for a kid?

Robbie was a superstar, his on field exploits are legendary.......Trengove hasn't really shown anything yet.

I admire loyalty , but that alone will not win us games, and once again become a power, and I care about that more.

Jack Watts signed a 3 year deal last year, despite a Carlton offer.

Does this make him so loyal that he can't ever be traded?

As far as I now, JT has only ever signed on for one extra contract after the one he was drafted with... Hardly club royalty

The press (for what it's worth) seems to be indicating the Collingwood won't deal with Brisbane and their deal is dead in the water. Beams apparently said he doesn't want to go to GC - how badly does he really want to be in Queensland?

I work with the father of a Collingwood player, the mail he passes on is all Collingwood related and it's normally on the mark. He said the reasons for Beams wanting out were Money, Buckley and his dad(as said earlier, is in remission), in that order. Brisbane threw a $200-$250k pay rise (from 600ish to 800ish) at him and the opportunity to play with his brother and be close to family was hard to pass up. Hasn't heard anything about Beams to Melbourne from his son though.

If Trengove + 23 for 12 is true and it is part of a play to lure Beams it likely results in Brayshaw and pick 83 (or the PSD) being our only live draft picks. I can't see us having the currency (either money or picks wise) to bring in another big name like Dangerfield etc. Beams and Lumumba will chew up a bit of the salary cap space we have, meaning a decent PSD pick is unlikely. Would hope we could get the tigers 3rd round pick(52) as part of the Trengove deal so that we're not using pick 83 as a live pick.

It would mean:

Players out: Clark, Frawley, Byrnes, Clisby, Nicholson, Strauss, Blease, Trengove; picks 3,23,61,79

Players in: Beams, Frost, Lumumba, Garlett; picks 2(Brayshaw), 41(Stretch), 83(?), 97(Jetta)

Unless we think we can find something better than Tapscott with pick 97 he gets a 1 year deal. Evans/ Mckenzie lucky not to have their remaining year terminated, but we simply don't have the currency to get something worth getting rid of them early for. There is a lot of unrealised talent in the outs. It will hurt if some of them come good, but the reality is that they haven't produced

In term of changes to the 2015 team, we had Frawley, Bail, M.Jones, Mckenzie and Terlich play a combined 86 games this year. If we can get that amount of games out of Hogan, Garlett, Lumumba, Beams and Frost (combined for 65 in 2014) we're a better team. Add development from younger players and we should get a few more wins on the board.

I hear ya, I'm not entirely comfortable with it but you have to be pragmatic sometimes. I was ready to give the club away after Farmer left but at the end of the day you get over these things with time.

Furious if the club goes for this, Jack is owed one season by the club to show what he can do injury free. Otherwise this is like us shafting Junior. Trengove has done everything right in terms of attitude and training and i firmly believe he will become a star. Not even for Dangerfield do i want this.

We need to clear out the players who are scarred from the past 6-7 years , like Trengove, Tapscott, Strauss, Blease, Fitzpatrick, Watts, Howe, Gawn. I think Howe and Gawn are the only 2 who will be there in a few years time, The sooner we move on the others the better it will be for the footy club.

That's how i feel. There's just something wrong about it and as Melbourne fans we should all know the damage a move like this can make. It's intangible but insidious.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
