Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Dreaming to get Garlett for Blease. Blease + 4th rounder maybe... That'd be a good deal i reckon.

Dunno what that leaves us to get frost with...

Maybe the Clark-Lumumba-Varcoe deal also gets us Geelong's 4th round pick?

4th rounder for Frost. 4th rounder + a player for Garlett?

How am I dreaming? They want Blease, we don't, we want Garlett, they don't. Why pay more for a player they don't want?

How about this proposal:

Christensen is heading North. So if he goes to Gold Coast, the likely trade there is Christensen for Pick 15.

We trade Mitch & Pick 23 to Geelong for Pick 15 & 35.

Trade Pick 35 to GWS for Frost.

Trade Pick 15 to Pies for Lumumba & Pick 30.

I think if we were able to get 15, i would be incredibly frustrated if that was then sent for Lumumba considering his age and player profile.

if we could get 15 & 35 that would put us in a great position to finish the trade week.

on the trade front looks like minimal interest in any of our bottom 20 players, which is unsurprising but at the same time would be awesome if they could have some sort of trade value.

I'd actually be very happy for us to use picks 2 and 3 on Petracca and Brayshaw.

Also land Gartlett, Lumumba and Frost.

And potentially bring in an experienced hard bodied out of contract midfielder from another club through the PSD. Or one who's just been delisted, just for a year or so - ie, to give some additional cover whilst the younger mids develop.

Looking at our picks - 2,3,23, Lumumba(Clark pick), Stretch, Jetta - it makes me wonder how exciting draft night could be if we hold onto them.

I know our first round selections in recent times have been an absolute debacle, and you could argue it is has been a result of the coach, development, team success, injury, poaching and just plain old not good enough.

Besides articles and You Tube, Mcartin, Petracca, Brayshaw and Wright are completely unknown to me. I haven't seen any of them play and therefor cannot write with much conviction.

However, with Melbourne in great hands, should we invest in the draft and build a club around this crop which will give us a crack at a flag in 5 years.

We could follow the Hawthorn of 2004 Roughy/Buddy & Collingwood of 2005 Thomas/Pendlebury. Premierships in 2008 and 2010 respectively

End of the day, as good as a Dangerfield is, he hasn't made Adelaide a top 4 side.

It may mean Roosy doesn't see many wins in his remaining 2 years, but it just may be the formula to win the ultimate prize.

Why wouldn't St Kilda just take McCartin at pick 1 then?

No need to swap pick 1 for 3 then for us to make a 'guarantee' not to take McCartin.

The only thing this deal achieves is us losing a 2nd round pick.

Because they wouldnt get an upgrade on a later pick if they did that

geez nut, i hope you never listened to a krudd speech

The only speeches I did like listening to was Keating - not necessarily for policy detail but I loved the venom.

Lots of posturing and the deals that are being conducted in public, stalling (Beams, Ryder)...

Despite hearing nothing, I think we're still in the box seat to do a big Tyson deal for pick 3 + ... to GWS (assuming the Saints want a tall), or to AFC for Dangerfield, or to ??? for experienced mid.

Once the reactive trades (initiated by players wanting to leave) is deal with we will still hold a couple of aces and have shown an appetite to deal.

If we were able to do a Tyson like trade this year i'd be looking at doing something with the Suns.

They have both pick 8 and 15, whereas GWS have 4, 21 & 24.

I'd be looking at something like Jesse Lonergan (or insert promising young player here) and pick 8 for our pick 3.

I'm. Hearing Roos is a big fan of Jake Lever. Where does that put us? What's he like? Key forward?

Where'd you hear that?

This is what makes the Dogs interest in upgrading heir pick interesting.

Pick 3 for Hvorat and (6) Lever? Doesn't quite carry the clout of the Tyson deal, but could bring in two new midfielders. These two plus Brayshaw and we've certainly loaded up on mids, although young ones at that.

If we were confident that the Saints were taking Petracca I would do that deal. We lose nothing and gain another midfielder.

It might be hard to imagine, but one of the most impressive prospects this year has been Lever, despite not playing a game. The running, combative and physical tall defender continues his diligent and determined rehabilitation from a knee reconstruction and took important steps last week. At the combine he ran 3.2 seconds for the 20-metre sprint and also competed in the three-kilometre time trial. Everything is on track for Lever to start pre-season ready to go.

Can also confirm we are heavily into Jake Lever, from someone that mates with him, was said Melbourne were interested in playing him in the midfield instead of defense

yeh, il also think we are hoping he slips down, because i dont think we can pull the trigger on 2/3 on someone we hope could play midfiled. although 21 will mean he is definitely taken. interesting though

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
