Sando sacked today.

Didn't see that coming, but why would I. So, re my post above, out of 4 coaches hired in 2011, only survivor is McCartney.

As an assistant would make you think twice about going for the top job.

Hinkley at Port has done well, appointed 2012.

lots of "talk" about discontent at Adelaide.. Coach in trouble, players unhappy. Bit of a watch this space one I thing.

I guess that you can call sacking their coach meaning he is in trouble!

Not sure that several have had that much opportunity to show said hunger.

Need to give those who have been on the list one year a chance to get in a decent pre season.

Harmes,Hunt,JKH,King have not had any chance to shine yet and we need to give this group that chance, after all they were brought in by the current football department.

agreed. thats why I had those guys in the trade-able column, but not in a Must keep column. They aren't must keeps yet, & obviously we wouldn't trade out all of the trade-able list. these guys (Harmes,Hunt,JKH,King) would get virtually nothing of value to warrant moving them yet.

but the players need to know before pre season they aren't too comfortable in the AFL & need to get in great shape. we have been a holiday destination for far too long now.

Its time for players to earn their way & put up, or go.

Don't know if anyone has mentioned earlier but heard today we are into Toby Green! Do we want him?

Yes, but not for P-2 or P-3, something lower down the Rnd would get closer

Yeah, I thought that one or twice too. Has the Cousins swagger, and confidence. Is he a customer of yours Biff?

Reading this thread is depressing, as I know there is a high probability that the dees will not get the players rumoured on this thread.

I would not know what to do with myself if Shiel, dangerfield, Mitchell etc were to come across during trade week... I think I would wet myself with joy!

I think last year the only trade we all knew was coming was Cross, with Vince and Tyson trades catching most off guard...

Which was a good result.

Better load up on the pads, just in case! :)

Pick 3 and Toumpas for Dangerfield.

Tappy/Strauss to anyone for 4th rounders.

Pick 2, 20 & 4th rounder for Shiel, Giles and Frost.

Clark trade for Lamumba.

Robinson trade for Blease.

3rd rounder F/S for Stretch.

Gwilt, ROK and/or Clint Jones as DFA.

5th rounder Jetta upgrade.

4th rounders on late draft smokies.

Seems like a good off season to me.

(will stop day dreaming now)

I think the prospect of incorporating Trengove in a trade is very interesting. My original thought was an outright no, I have really liked Trengove and want to see him come good after his foot injury.

Although I then realized he would be one of the highest paid players at the club (alongside Frawley, Clark, and Jones) - since he was last signed during the $cully fiasco.

Based on this and the likely fact that both Frawley and Clark will be off our list we will have a ridiculously large sum of cash to chase high end targets.

The last I saw on here was the rumoured offer on the Crows table of pick 2 and Trengove for Dangerfield, having Trengove in that deal will still allow us plenty of cash to chase another high end target (Cameron or secondly Mitchell) with the use of pick 3.

So I'm all for it (based on the acquired high end player).

I'm curious what all your thoughts are for Trengove as trade bait?

Also doesn't factor in a multitude of other possible list changers, like trades for Watts or Trengove, both of whom have some second rounder currency if Roos decides on a massive list turnover.

I would love to get a ball park figure on what they're on.

I don't think I would be happy with a second round pick but wouldn't mind seeing them incorporated into a trade to get proven AFL talent/ stars (Dangerfield or Cameron).

Pick 2 is surely enough? Perhaps 2 & a second rounder. 2 & Trengove, overs even for Dangerfield quality

Yeah, I'm not sure we need to offer the world here. I think pick 2 or 3 could get the deal done. It's either that for Adelaide or a mid first round compensation pick next year when he leaves as a FA or whoever finishes bottom next year giving up pick 1. If I was Adelaide, I'd certainly consider it.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
