This is the KEY

AFC are looking at getting approx pick 6 for him as a FA in 2015, so offering better than pick 6 in 2014 is a better deal than AFC would otherwise get.

So Pick 3 would be a bonus for AFC. It's not what Dangerfield is worth, but the Hawks got pick 19 for Buddy.

Its then offering a deal that other Victorian based clubs cannot trump, i.e pick 3 plus a pick/player. I'd suggest we try another Tyson type deal that gains us a mid first round pick and we then trade pick 3 and pick 10 to the AFC for Dangerfield. That would be beyond every other Vic club bar the Saints, who seem to be uninterested in Dangerfield.

Pick 3 + 10 is unders for his value, but far more than the AFC would otherwise get (via FA compo) and beyond what they'd get from another club.

Then we'd need for Dangerfield to want to come and sign long term with the MFC $$$ + TLC. :)

this year if danger awas a free agent, the Crows would get around P-11 compensation for him.

... they will likely bounce next year under a new coach to around 8th or 9th. Which would net them a compo around P-11 or P-12ish.

they will not get a better deal for him than this year so those who want to give away Half the Farm for a holiday, are nuts.

ONE solitary player, is Not going to change our fortunes from this year.

we need depth of talent if you hadn't noticed. so we need many around the 21Yrs - 24 yrs age bracket. If we can snag a marquis player then good, but only for one high pick, & a player we can let go.

Really? Do you honestly believe that when we get Paddy we will be no better off? Your name really does suit you.

Pretty sure our future hinges on the the current players we have now aged 21-24, Like Watts, Trenners, Tyson, Riley with the like of Vince Jones and Danger supporting, if anything we do not have enough of the above 24 year olds to help out the younger ones.

There's really no argument here as to who we keep - Trengove has shown he has what it takes to be a star midfielder in our competition, unfortunately as many others he has been poorly managed as far as his injuries are concerned. Given the time off and the rehabilitation that he's putting himself through, he's going to come back an absolute animal, 2015 is going to be the Trengove and Viney show in that midfield.

Toumpas, while has "silky skills" doesn't seem to have the footy mongrel in him and it's painful to watch, the club already has an outside ball getter that gets flogged most weeks (mostly from the supporters than the other teams) that wears a number 4 on his back.

If we have the chance to make something out of this disastrous mistake of taking Toumpas over Wines we should make the most of it and move him on to greener pastures before we're looking at another Morton.

Completely disagree. Trengove has looked like he's almost running backwards the past few years. Brock-like. I'm completely sure it's injury related, but there's got to be a lot of doubt surrounding his ability to bounce back. If there's value out there, I for one would take the chance.

I just feel it's too early to give up on Toumpas - think there's a lot of upside, and has a clear role if he gets good. With Danger et al, Trengove would be struggling to get a game.

no, what i'm saying is that we will not be very different next year because of just Danger. yes we want him but not at the cost off losing our tradab;le picks for other talented players.

How do you think the GCSuns would be going now if they recruited GABjnr & only had their first induction of U-18's?

oh, and your name really doesn't suit such a soft effort, boyo. back to school pal.

I love how people on here are horrified at us offering pick 2 & 3 but would happily offer pick 2 and toumpas.

Anyone remember being a very highly rated pick 3 two years ago???

ever hear of the concept of depreciation?

It's highly likely that any trade that may involve Toumpas or Trengove would all be subject to them passing medicals with the AFC and include testing to see that they'd got their speed back. If they haven't got their speed back then they're not worth much at the moment. If they've got their speed back then they're going to be bloody good footballers - especially Trengove - and therefore valuable bargaining chips, if that's indeed what they are?

SD your suggestion is not in keeping with the spirit of the off-season and internet footy forums - which are not too dissimilar to financial markets trading: buy the rumour, sell the fact!

For god's sake can someone please post a legit sounding rumor confirming we are going to get Danger! I don't care if it is bollocks by the way.

Rumours by definition can't be "legit". If they were legit, they wouldn't be rumours.

I can confirm from a source that wishes to remain anonymous (works for MFC, let's call him Mr 'R' or P Daddy) that both MFC and AFC have agreed on terms to trade Danger. All it requires is a few signatures which should be put to paper by COB today.

Disclaimer: might be bullocks and I lied when I said confirm it.

I am sorry but this time around I can't shine any light onto whether there is any truth to rumour that Danger to MFC deal is close to being agreed. If true I am a little surprised it is out pre GF. As I have previously mentioned I can confirm the MFC are making a play and have been behind the scene for much of the season, but that is all I know.

The only thing that could excite people is that both my sources (1 admin, 1 board member) have failed to take my calls today. Maybe my time as a reliable inside source of info is over, then again maybe.........................

What soft effort are you talking about? Please make some sense next time you post, it would be a pleasant change.

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
