This thread shows the ho hum that is this election - no posts in just under 3 weeks with the election just around the corner.

Ho hum ?

You must have missed last night's leader's debate on Sky News, which no doubt lit up the lives of the approximately 8 people who were watching.

might be a case of out of the frying pan and into the fire.....or should that be vice a versa?

sometimes anarchy has a certain appeal

I must admit I do like an election purely for the absurdities...how about this little pearl

When asked to name the suburbs included in the electorate, Voice For The West candidate Nhan Hoang Tran only nominated Sunshine, which is not part of the electorate.

When asked why people should vote for him, Mr Tran said: “I really got no idea about this. I’m new here, you know.”

This is a man I want representing my interests in Parliament !

At least he admits he has no idea. One step up from a lot of his fellow politicians....

untried, untested, but a breath of fresh air from that flaky Denis Napthaline

premier Napthaline will only further allow the Right Wing to further torch all things good about our country.

i'm intrigued by your definition of "fresh" air d-l

but i suppose it fits your world view

another term of either party should be of some concern

we don't live in a sewer. we live in communities, & money isn't the bible, or our book of values & morals; but somehow it seems to have overgrown its original meaning of change for goods traded.

now the economy has become more important than people. money is the avenue for some, to Power... they need it to forget their own insignificance's. we are all equal, born that way & die the same.

it seems that people have become the cattle on the farm of wealth... where wealth is all important to those who wish to control others, & people are just fodder for the machine.

world views, I do no want yours DC.

DL just a point of order. We don't live in a sewer, yes but without a functioning sewer system we would not be living here for too long.

yes true, I started my apprenticeship building the Sth-Eastern treatment plant. I know & understand the value of infrastructure & also inspiring projects to excite the people. like the patterson river estuary lakes project back in the day.

today maybe docklands. & Yarra river living.

but the past 50Yr credit cycle we have grown up with is dying... thankfully; as growth by inflation is wrong, & stresses out the people, stops them achieving peace. & causes business to go Off shore with their businesses to gain more margins, & less Tax payments. this only suits big investors, but does not serve the people, 7 gives birth to boom & bust.

small steady growth lines @ a very small incline is the best way for people, but not investors growth rates. I'd still rather save the deposit & make a visit to the local bank manager who grows up within your community, to get the bank home loan, & homes will once again be homes & Not investment opportunities.

People will be more settled & less competative & morals will improve again as life slows off a bit.

the early part of the credit cycle was exciting but it turned sour & disenchanting... & people have lost their way.

I've always thought the Coalition would scrape home by a handful of seats but the odds last night had the Govt at about $5 and Labor at $1.18, and we all know the bookies rarely get it wrong. Dan would have to do something colossally wrong to lose from here you'd think.

so what are your world views/desires

how do you want the world to be in a economic model? do you want people under stress constantly with rising house prices constantly, & trapped in a near life long mortgage because of inflationary mechanisms where homes are now an investment by some at the expence of other battlers.

This is what's wrong with the system.

the system is Old & in need of renewal.... the world is changing, people are altering their ways, & I suspect the lifestyle westerners have lived is about to seriously change soon. by choice, & also not buy choice.

DL some things in my working life are now making some sense. You worked on the original South East Purification Plant (SEPP) now known as ETP. My team at work has to keep that beast running 24/7/365, no room for failure at all. We have had problems of late, maybe we need to talk to you about some of our construction defect issues? And as for the Patterson River development you might want to come back down there and look at the new tidal gates we have installed. I reckon they are great but they did cost a bomb for a few boaties and to protect a relatively few houses.

opening up the RIP was a big mistake. it protects us, what we have built around the waters edges, & with climate change & rising Sea Levels expected many areas are under threat.

the Bay at present only ever half fills or half empties, its really not a BAY; but an estuary lake.

what happened to the EasternTP ?

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
