I would prefer it not exist. Relocating is just not the same. You break all cultural and historical ties. Sure, Sydney and Brisbane have supporter ties to their true homes, but they are not South Melbourne, nor Fitzroy. Not even close.

Melbourne is Melbourne. Anything else and it's nothing to me. I could make a compromise with a merger but it might take me a few years to get right back on board. I'd probably support them loosely.

If they were to fold (God forbid..) I'd probably loosely following the Toiges. I know that's blasphemy around here but half of my family goes for Richmond and I've always had a soft spot for them.

I'd take a merger with a Melbourne team over re-location.

Like most changes in life, you'd get used to the merger and adapt.

Re-location is simply for fans of the new city to enjoy.

37% says I would leave the AFL and is one of the reasons the AFL changed from looking to reduce the No of teams.

Their research showed that after three years more than half the supporters of the lost / merged team had left the AFL completely.

For me it is the MFC or nothing.

After last Saturday I would be crying for not more than five minutes.

I was actually talking about this a couple of nights ago with my best mate who I converted from Hawthorn about five or six years ago. We concluded that if we were to fold we'd probably just follow AFL in general and support no particular team. If we were to merge we might follow the new team but it would all depend on who we merged with (St Kilda Demons? No thanks). Even if we were to merge with someone that I don't downright despise, I can hardly see myself investing as much passion into the new team as I put in right now.
