So after making good strides this year as a club we are now going as far as being hypothetically 'unviable' after one terrible performance at the end of the year?

God help us.

I would prefer a move to Tassie over a merge or folding. But I'm from WA so it wouldn't affect me as much as if I was living in Victoria. Completely understand Melbournites being up in arms at a relocation, but that would be my preference.

not really ...its a perennial question

there is no suggestion that anything like this is imminent or even desirable

however the subject keeps getting raised here and certainly in the broader community

of course no-one here wants it (i think)

i've had swans and fitzroy friends......the majority eventually jumped on board

.....but if we had to face it.........what is the sentiment

All or nothing. The whole point of following the club is the combination of colours, song, ground, heritage, etc. Players come and go, but the other aspects have been fairly constant. I'd rather have nothing than some bastardised version.

I wonder if those selecting interstate realise it will no longer be "Melbourne" ?

if worse comes to worse it is best to relocate to northern Queensland. I would be happy to spend my winters in Port Douglas when I am retired.

Merge with Port Adelaide and become Port Melbourne... the added benefit for certain posters on here would be that we finally get Ollie Wines.

Yeah, sorry, DC - we had a bad loss on the weekend but things are not as bleak as they were this time 12 months ago, or 18 months ago (pre-Jackson)...

In fact, we are in much better shape, both off and on the field.

Not having a bar of this.

(I am aware it is just a hypothetical)

i've been associated with 3 clubs that no longer exist (all disappeared)

There is no such thing as an "unthinkable hypothetical".

To form a hypothesis one must expend some thought or imagination.

To do so without this mental exercise is impossible.

As it is to answer DCs poll.

Therefore DC,

No Brainer.

there's no compulsion biffo, you can relax....no need for you to expend any intellectual property. i know how you value its retention

maybe i could come up with a hypothetical poll on the gat....now that is not worth thinking about

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
