Ling has told both Melbourne and Geelong that he plans to retain his commentary duties with the Seven Network for at least the next two years

Ok forget him

No idea who else we may bring in

Posted (edited)

He was never serious. Just keeping his name in the media circus relevant. Good timing to finally come clean after keeping the story bubbling for a year.

What happened to all the know alls that said he was going to be named within the short term?

Exactly dd

You will not hear a word from them over the next few days.

Don't hold your breath for a "Well I got that wrong"

To be perfectly honest I was in no rush for him to join.

Could never see what he was bringing to the table besides no experience.

Gia from the Bulldogs might be an option. Retires the end of the year and has made it clear he wants to coach. Two year apprenticeship under Roos would be ideal.

Pity, seems like a good bloke. Will now only make comment like a lot of other tossers, Gary, Dermott, Gerard ....who never had the courage to sit in the drivers seat but are happy to pass their wisdom on to those who do.

A couple of years will be too late for him as the game will have long passed him by.

I'm surprised by this decision, I think he would make a great coach

Obviously has it too easy in the media and a lot of outside interests

Happy that one is out of the way. We did not need a half committed Ling as our heir apparent coach. If he was interested in coaching he would already be into it full time.

Appears to be respected and very well liked, could work.

i find his timing just after our worst defeat of the year for his announcement quite interesting. I wonder what prompted him to make the announcement now??

WHy did we want someone who wasn't fully committed ? He said he had doubts he had the desire to do all the work. Go for one that does!!

Good IMO, didn't reckon he had it in him

He may have been touted on Demonland as heir apparent but Roos quashed that fairly early in the piece.

As to half committed ?? He was taking his time to decide what he wanted to do - I think the noises he made about deciding on coaching were fairly similar to someone else - Paul Roos ?

Yeah I agree, I don't think Cam Ling is the answer to our problems.

Ling is far too green, will be for some time.

All that red hair makes him too green? :-) :-)

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
