I would like to know what Simpson has done with the Weagles in the past few weeks. I saw their game at Patterson's Stadium against Richmond and they were terrible. Suddenly they really are looking like a finals side. Incredible.

Why do the Cats now shite me to tears? They have been lucky this year IMO with umpiring decisions handing them three close matches. Brisbane, Freo and Carlton in the first match.

I maintain they are the worst 16-4 side in the game's history.

Fallen over the line against Richmond, Carlton, Essendon, Bulldogs, GWS, Fremantle and Carlton again. Not even close to Sydney, Fremantle (the first time), Port or the Gold Coast. The only reason they beat Hawthorn is the mental side of things in that match-up. And when they have won convincingly, most of the time it's because their opponent was average on the day, not because they played outstanding football.

Good on them for winning, but deserving of a premiership they are not.

stupid west coast. They let essendon back in the game by letting them kick 5 consecutive goals. They led by as much as 38 points in the 3rd quarter. then they kick 2 behinds in the final term. Wets coast are massive under achievers.

Actaully i believe I said that when the eagles were around 38 points up, just before they lost their momentum. And with regards to the Hawks match, I kind of realised how deluded I was to think that after a couple of days, thus, I mentioned I didn't expect us to win as a result. Collingwood have been badly hit by injury tonight.

Before the game, the Pies lost Elliott and Pendlebury. Reid was then subbed out in first 2 - 3 minutes and Cloke went off with an ankle injury before half time.

The "rested" emergency Clinton Young came in for Elliott while Tony Armstrong who played in the VFL at Geelong this afternoon (and ran 14k doing it) was a late inclusion as a sub and because he came in early for the injured Reid, will end up playing virtually 8 quarters for the day.

Given that Elliott was said to be under a bit of an injury cloud anyway, they might have been better of resting two of their emergencies as a precaution. After all, a finals place is at stake.

Yep, just as has been the case in the last few years, there's a bunch of teams contesting for that coveted position of making up numbers in the finals and getting spanked by the team who finished fifth.

You have to wonder if it's really worthwhile having an eight team final series when the teams that finish eighth are never really in the contest.
