Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Can still see the Doggies running rings around us on their turf.

But agree with NO excuses!

Since they started playing together, I can't recall a game where neither Cooney or Griffen played against us.

Blease end has come if your name is in the best every week which he has, I hope roos does not forsake all attack for only defence even the hawks have attacks that don't defend

I can't see how the five named ins will be much good after they have payed the Casey game. Takes a long time to get from Casey Fields to Etihad. Why do they do this? All are named in the Casey team as well as the Dees.

Only 40 posts so I'm not sure if you are serious or not?

The extended bench are usually name for Casey until selection is finalised. As the dees train tomorrow they probably haven't even finalised the teams yet and if they have they aren't confirmed until 5pm tomorrow.

Well Garland didn't have a pre-season, is coming off surgery and he's missed a lot of the game time where the other defenders were gelling with the game plan.

Don't have a problem if he's not contributing as much as the others, but he's not going to find form and build his knowledge of Roosy's defensive gameplan at the Casey wasteland.

It's more his decision making that's been ordinary. I love him, but missing a pre season shouldn't decrease your ability to make the correct decision. I think if anything, he is taking time to adjust to the Roos game plan.

would be great if Dom Barry got selected

Literally nobody saw that coming

Not sure about that...

Or are we going to get a smokey and see Barry..?

Dom Barry: Dom played wing and had eight possessions. He had a negating run-with role on Sam Iles, who has been averaging around 30 possessions per week. Dom did a very, very good job. He was disciplined, stuck to his task and tried to run both ways. Dom also kept his opponent to little to no impact on the day. It was a good effort.

No, they don't. There is no defensive liability for hawthorn. Whilst I know you are thinking of hill and smith their defensive presence is clear in every match. Both have enormous engines and are able to support two way running, meaning they can run ridiculously hard forward as they are able to match these efforts back.

Blease does not defend but the fact he often ignores team mates in better positions running himself into trouble

Yeah i get you. But they have players that are incredibly offensive with probably less defence in their game.. I just think that it would be really good to have Blease in the forward pocket putting on pressure and winning the ball himself.

Hi all, ? Being fairly fresh to this site. How do I start a new thread? I've got family friends who are western bulldog supporters/ player sponsors etc who have told me that bar 1 stand, all the profits made from merchandise at Etihad goes to essendon football club. This is part of Essendons agreement with Etihad. Need to get the word out there to hold off buying your kid a jumper this weekend if you go to the match

Granted, but I still think you underestimate the defensive side of his game as a club like hawthorn wouldn't allow players to not play a defensive role considering he plays off the half back and wing.

That said the player roles aren't really comparable, but I would think that suckling is pretty switched on to grabbing an opppnent when the ball is in the oppositions hands.

I get that, but the problem is he doesn't put on pressure, personally I think Kent, Salem, JKH are ahead of him for that position and even Byrnes was when fit.

Both decision making and skills can deteriorate as you tire. Google the relationship between motor skills and physical fitness - a plethora of research on it.

Yes they are.

Why do players practice? What about if you miss it for a few months?

What happens late in games to one's skills?

I cannot believe that you, the self appointed king of Rational Demonland is going to sit there and say that missing part of the Pre-season (and the season) through injury would not affect a players skill execution...

We all get frustrated by the plethora of excuses but sometimes there are 'reasons' for things and it is best to attempt to determine which is which if you want to make good decisions about player retention, etc.

There's a line in my post above that I should have re-written..

Of course fatigue will effect decision making and skills.

However, for Garland, and the examples I can remember, none of them were in the second half of the match and they were decisions made and skills executed where there was time and space afforded to him.

Those particular errors were not from a lack of fitness. They were from a lack of ability to some degree. Made to standout because many players that day were making similar errors.

Liam Jones out, Fletcher Roberts in.

Who?

Ahhh good ol' Robbo...

If I didn't know any better, I'd say this game smells awfully tanky.

You obviously didn't see Nicholsons game on the ABC last week.

So I'm pretty sure Nicho is in the team for Riley?

Am I right? We know what he has dished up in the past.. Lets see if Roos can make something of Nicho, has worked for Pedo & Jetta!

Grant not Jones. Damnit.

Sorry.

And yes, the Dogs are trying to lose this game.

2 new players, lots of kids, but do they know who they are playing?

lol

Two teams might be frustrated Sunday evening...

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
