And there you have it.

How can forum posters get it right over a highly paid expert, but that is basically what happened?

I feel sick every time I see Talia or Darling play.

Our problem is not 1-2 mistakes over the last 8 years or so it is 1-2 correct. I am not counting last year under the new recruiting team.

It's maddening isn't it mate - like you say you can forgive mistakes when they are outliers but not when they are the core of your work over an entire career.

If this bloke was a surgeon there would be bodies everywhere.

If he was a garbage collector the streets would be covered in rubbish.

If he was a chef, all the patrons would have food poisoning.

etc, etc, etc.

Pick 3 for T.Mitchell & Zac Jones?

IN: Pick2 (Petracca), T.Mitchell, Z. Jones

Out: Pick 3

They can then use Pick 3 on someone like Wright who I think Sydney are in need for a young ruckman who they could develop. We are also getting in Nathans younger brother to move back in Melbourne and provide Nathan a big reason to not walk out on the Dees next year come free agency as an insurance plan.

Is that possible juzz. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought young draftees (eg, Z Jones) could not be traded before their first 2yr deal was up? Not sure though.

Damn quote won't work, Sydney needed a midfielder to replace Hanneberry and went with Zack Jones and not Mitchell, that tells you something, whoever Roos picks will do me

Why would he be in the best 22? ridiculous comment, how many games have you watched him play?

He is definitely in their best 22 when fit but has had very interrupted year with injury. Would be a great get. Zak Jones and Mitchel for pick 2?

My brother in law is a mad carlton member and we were discussing Mitchell last night. Word on Carlton forums is they are keen to use first rounder on Mitchell and get a 3rd rounder back with him. Be interested to know what Sydney's plans are in regards to list management. I would think that dumping some salary would be important along with taking on young players on small wages.

I want Mitchell, but Carlton might be more aggressive for him.

According to the Carlton boards they are going to get everyone. Most of it sounds just plain stupid. Not sure how they are going to get Mitchell and jaksh with only 1 first round pick. They won't give up any good players. Gws and Sydney won't let these guys walk for nothing. Other clubs will also be all over these guys. Carlton are also one of the clubs that are difficult to deal with which is why they don't trade in very often and when they do the afl has to be involved.

Pffft..... Carlton will not get both these deals done, even if they are both players preferred destination. As above, they don't have the juice to deal for both & like collingwood have terrible reps at trade week.

They'll get compo for Waite - probably a second round pick?

4rd rounder at most

hes like 33 and will be paid peanuts on a 1 year deal if another club picks him up

Carlton definitely the frontrunner here and we appear to be lagging well behind.

What do we have to offer that could better Carlton?

Not a great deal and if anyone thinks offering pick 2 or 3 for this player would surely be wrong. All three of McCartin, Petracca and Brayshaw would be what we need and at least at present they run well ahead of Mtchell alone

roos. Plus I heard a rumour malt house might be retiring in next week for personal reasons. Twice removed hearsay so obviously probably bollocks but perhaps Mitchell would like to be at a club where he knows who will be the coach for the next 5 years

I guess that they will just find a bulging Visy brown paper bag which they seem to be allowed to do. (Wink wink, nod nod Mr Fitzpatrick, eh?)

Mitchell must be getting pretty frustrated trying to break into that magnificent midfield.

I haven't seen enough of Mitchell to offer an accurate trade proposal, but if we want to eventually trump Carlton, pick 3 (or 2) would almost certainly have to be involved. Would you soften your stance if it was Mitchell and pick 20 for picks 3 and 60 for example?

And plenty of others like Sloane, Rockliff, Shuey etc.

This is what I find so absolutely frustrating and so hard to deal with, if forum people can pick better players with their limited resources and time, why was our recruiting bloke so absolutely pathetic and incompetent.

Every team has its champions and stars, even Nathan Jones, our best, couldn't make the AA 40 player squad.

No rising star, no AA squad member, no MVP vote getter, no member of the under 22 team, 38 wins in 8 years.

Single handedly this bloke destroyed us and now we are trying to rebuild and thank God with a new structure.

Looking at Sydney and how good they are, the only thing that gives me hope is Roos. He was there. He started it. He brought in Longmire. He traded for players. He was the architect. Along with PJ we have the right people and that gives me hope they will turn this place around.

Last for those people on here who are too proud to receive some special assistance if we manage to fluke some, have a look at the Hawks and Swans they got it and weren't too proud to take it and look where they are. Incidentally the best player last night and probably second best in the game was a PP. funny that isn't it.

Before anyone tries to shoot me down, I agree a PP won't win us a flag but it will help if we use it correctly to IMPROVE us at least to some small degree.

Go Roos and PJ and give me a club to be be proud to support again, it has been too long.

Maybe we are not interested, or maybe we are going about things quietly.

exactly.. nobody saw us after tyson last season.

im sure they are working on things in the background, with absolutely no need for it to hit the media

As much as Damien Barett is an idiot he gets a lot right. He confirmed last night Mitchell is currently on 400k a season. How can the swans pay him that much? and is love to see their books.

They've had quite a few senior players retire in recent years, another couple will be off the books this year and have an extra 9.8% in the salary cap.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
