Never in a million years would I have believed Nev would become the player he has... He is outstanding, rearly gets beaten 1 on 1, good with ball in hand, makes the right decisions... If you were picking a best 22 in the AFL to play tomorrow he'd be a lock in the back pocket... because he doesn't run around without a man and rack up 30 touches a week like Simpson/Docherty he doesn't get recognised.. Today proved it, Nev stood up in the big moments & played a pivotal role in a win!!

Terrifying to think that he was delisted and was still available at pick 50 in the Rookie Draft... makes me feel a little bit sick.

One of my all time favourites now and amongst the first picked every week.  Leadership group for 2018.

Just realised it was Simpson he beat on that vital one on one in the dying minute... How ironic, sums it up. Carlton was out if he lost that 1 on 1, had players lose inside 50... Unbelievable

Looks looks like Nev will finally get the credit he deserves.

In robbos likes for the round and also top moment of the round on the AFL website

That last play was amazing big spoil over the top, bounce to feet, out muscle Simpson and take the ball away cleanly.

Hopefully jetta will be recognised for what he really is.

Lock down defender who is outstanding one on one, tough and makes good decisions.

Too many lazy commentators still think he is a speedy crafty creative halfback who loves a goal.

Probably our most consistent quiet achiever. Loved by his fellow players. His read on play and bounce is par excellence. Wouldn't mind seeing him in the middle in light of Jones and Viney. Under rated by many buts that's OK. At their own risk. Saved the day.

When he went to ground I felt sick. He popped back up like a cork in water and did the job.

Simpson is not used to playing on an opponent.

I was one of those gooses (geese?) who thought he'd struggle to hold his place in the side. Stuffed if I can remember what the logic was now but I'm sure it made sense at the time

It's performances like this that have to have armchair coaches singing his praises. I just want to hear from other  teams supporters that he should be in aa contention.

Has to be one of the best 1 on 1 defenders in the comp.

That's the amazing thing about this play. He could have stayed down and played the I am sore card from doing a cart wheel in mid air but the recovery was simply mindblowing!!!

Definitely should be in the AFL Team of the week

Should be in the All Australian team.

But they are so biased against us, and they will find a way to squeeze in an Essendon or West Coast player instead like they always do.

Too true.

I saw him go down and thought "OMG" but what G&D for him to get up and make the play.  Absolutely saved the game.

Get a grip man. Enough with the nobody loves us go and eat worms conspiracy theories. When we have had players deserving of AA they have been selected.

Jetta is maybe in the mix but so are many others including another Melbourne defender Hibberd.

While you are correct that we should resist self-pity/conspiracy theories, you assume the selection is totally based on facts.  Like the MRP, everything in the AFL has more than a tinge of sucking up to big team supporter bases and big name players - something to do with $$$ perhaps.  So it is quite likely in my paranoid view that of 2 equally deserving players, the player more likely to be selected will come from a big club.

Just want to add my voice to the chorus of the Jeville Netta love song.

The guy is a freak athlete, unbelievable. I truly believe that the bigger his opponent in relative size, the more he dominates them.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
