Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

This weekend in the FIFA world cup, will see Australia using the same defensive strategies as Roos, with the whole nation cheering them on!

I find all types of media hilarious...

In the space of a week it's gone from "Roos - coaching legend" to "Roos - ruins football".

I laugh everytime I hear someone complain about the "state of the game"... It's just very typically Australian of us to hold onto a certain view of the game like we do in society over social issues. The "it's the way it's always been and should always remain" is honestly hilarious... Guess what Sammy K, the game is constantly changing and nobody cares what you think anymore.

I loved what I believe it was Wayne Carey said on Talking Footy a few weeks ago, something along the lines of "all these people who talk about how bad footy is and how great it was in the 80's and 90's, what were they watching? I played then and there were still terrible games, everyone remembers a classic and thinks thats how footy was, but 5 games each round were boring blowouts as well."

Then he said something like "maybe they mean the 60's or 70's, I don't know but if they are going back to how it was 50 years ago, I think it's time to move on".

He is right to the extent that everyone ( including us ) would not like if we played that way and scored 3 goals every week,

What that dingbat doesn't understand ( and Bomber Thompson does) is that we are like a baby just learning how to walk.

We are 9 games into a new era of coaching for these players. Of course 3 goals is unacceptable but get a grip - these players are just learning what is required of them and I think the progress made has been quite outstanding.

We are still a rubbish team that has won a whopping 9 games in 3 seasons and still got 70,000. Sure, this year it was a highly defensive game and not all like watching these sort of games. So what!

Bigger crowds and more offensive games will come as we improve. There is no risk of losing QB at this stage.

And as Tim Lane said on Monday, he couldn't believe the number of Melbourne supporters at the game. He said that is one thing we have over the other bottom teams, such as WB, Saints, Brisbane and the newbies, we have a very loyal supporter base and that will be one of the things that will help elevate and increase our financial standing. It was great to hear them talking about imagine when the Dees are a real force we will be going back to the good old days of having to seat people on the top of the great southern stand.

Pretty sure the Pies applied lots of defensive pressure and put numbers back too...

+ 1 watch the amount of times when we came to a standstill around wing and half forward, due to the Pies flooding back. They ran hard on the rebound and played slingshot footy off half back utilising Young & Seedsman. It wasn't all our doing but it was a neccasary brand of footy to play on the day. Take your opportunities and/or maybe tweek your side a little and 7 to 8 goals easily on the board, still not free flowing footy but ends the media whingefest

We are not in the 70s or 80s were teams who have the best forwards win... If you kick the ball long teams will just get numbers in the back line & bring it straight back! If you maintain possession & execute correct passing you will score! Stop living in the past!

we all agree that Fixturing is a real big Issue.

I found it anything but boring. Good old fashioned hard at footy from both sides. I don't think a 25 goals to 22 goals game is that exciting. Our soccer friends have hearts palpitating for the whole game in a nil all draw. Some of the best games I have watched have been low scoring affairs and when a goal is scored it is absolute gold. Sam is very wrong here.

Its worth noting that Slammin Sam started his VFL/AFL career for North Melbourne in 1968... Without having to dig very deep I note that in 1968 The Shinboners kicked 31 points against Richmond in round 6, 32 points against Collingwood in round 11 and in the round 15 game versus Melbourne, the Demons won by two points, 40 to 38. The very next week North managed 39 points against St Kilda. From these statistics I derive that the North Melbourne Football Club, along with Sam Kekovitch, his coaches and his team mates are responsible for the very low number of members that club has in 2014!

Sammy should be concentrating on avoiding the North - Footscray merger. I reckon it might raise its head soon if they both dont win finals.

Not that we are safe:)

If they did combine they would still have less combined members than Hawthorn, but they MAYBE could play boutique (<50,000) out of the Western oval.

Im sure they both would see merit to be able to get away from the clutches of Etihad and little chance of premierships.

5th largest H&A Attendance this year. We are represented twice in top 11 this year. None in top 20 last year.

Last year our average H&A attendance was 24929. After 11 games this year its 31964.

its a positive sign.

While I agree it wasn't pretty, it was gripping (up until 3/4 time anyway) and infinitely preferable to the Saints V Hawks match earlier this year - which was what Titus O'Reily would refer to as "an open training session for Hawthorn".

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
