Out: Gawn

In: Dawes

The in speaks for itself. Gawn out is the only way I can see to achieve balance - the second ruck has to be able to play as a forward. I have supreme confidence in Pedersen's ability to play the ruck/forward role; he's bean dead set excellent this year, which makes big Max largely redundant. Gawn also had a poor game today, but that's not the point.

Anyone know why the Toumpas for Riley change was made?

He was in Alice.

No and no idea.

Dawes for Gawn.

Think Toumpy probably did enough to keep his spot

Dawes in for Gawn.

Maybe 1 other change - Toumpas for Kent/Michie - maybe not. All we really know for sure is, obviously, Dawes back after the suspension.

McKenzie should come in -- we need a tagger vs collingwood, and his VFL form is very good.

Not so sure about dropping Gawn because i think that he and Jamar would provide a ruck dominance that is too valuable to dismiss. Weather may make this decision easy though.

Riley would also be a good in vs collingwood.

And Dawes is a no-brainer. :)

Riley and Dawes in for me.

Probably Toumpas and Gawn out? Didn't think Toump gave us enough spark as the sub; need more of an electric JKH fast running type in that final quarter. Gawn was monstrous against Richmond but seemed to be carrying too much of the load without Dawes today. Fitness probably an issue.

In: Dawes Kent

Out: Toumpas Gawn (just to give him more time in VFL to shine, he does look good though)

those of you think Grimes should be dropped, you're delusional. That is not how you show faith in a player who truly gives his best. Grimes will come good, just needs to work on the skill aspect. He is a leader who is committed to the contest and the team.

I think that has to be it. Someone has to make room for Dawes and it has to be Gawn; we're too tall otherwise and Gawn is at the bottom of the talls we're playing. Pedersen will cope fine in the ruck, it's not Collingwood's strength anyway.

I love Gawn, but I agree wholeheartedly with all of this.

It's good for max to be spending whole games in the ruck in the VFL and build his engine. Will be a force once he gets a bit stronger and can run out games.

Posted

Don't know the Riley situation so I'll leave him out.

Dawes in is a given. I'll reckon Gawn will stay, despite an ordinary game yesterday, because he will cause a headache to the Filth's defence .

On the last in first out basis - Toump will go.

Dawes is the obvious inclusion for gawn. Riley is hard at it, and is rested which could pose as a problem for Collingwood. Toump was okay, but could make way for Riley.

I reckon we will beat Collingwood! No Sidebottom, ball or Maxwell most likely, potentially no Grundy , cloke has had one good game all year

Dawes in for Gawn has got to be a no brainer, Toump did some good things but still needs to work on his urgency and second efforts. Tough to decide who to bring in with Casey having another week off (seriously two weeks off in a row is really disruptive), Riley would be the obvious first choice to give him another go in the seniors and Kent would probably be my second choice to give a bit of run and he knows how to kick a goal.

Toump or injury/ sickness for Dawes , Gawn gets another go , he requires game time to improve at top level imo and is a vital peice of the puzzle backing up Jamar and providing another target with Dawes Chip and Pedo stretching every backline in the afl

His form doesnt warrant selection yet but we need Blease . Matt white showed in patches what break neck speed can produce and we are lackng in this area . cmon Sammy get up .

We've got one of the best taggers in the game but no-one has woken up to him yet because he doesn't use the usual tagger tactics he just puts his body in a gets the ball ahead of his opponent. Daniel Cross is having a great season.

Dawes in, Gawn out. The rest of the team stays as it is. Re Grimes, he has the talent he just needs to think about things and take more care with his delivery this is something he needs to work through. We cannot continue to trash our own players we need to get them working harder and better. Pedo, Jetta, Jamar and others are all examples where we have slammed them but thankfully Roos and co have worked with them and bring the best out of them.

Out: Our Grand Final

In: Just another H&A game where we try to suffocate our opposition to prove we are a real side, and come away with four points.

I would love to hear Nathan Jones or Chris Dawes say words to this effect during the week, and nip that noxious crap in the bud before it begins. I can already hear the Collingwood supporters, players and coaches belittling us now and making excuses, and it hasn't even started yet.

White also has elite endurance and makes reasonable decisions.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
