Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Anyone see Abletts hit?

I'm hoping he gets pinged for it, and I think he should

If he does it just brings more chance for Jonesy

Forget about it, I hope he gets his 3rd Brownlow; He deserves his place as a triple Brownlow medalist.

But...but..Jones

That's the spirit deeman. Jones would be happy to win the Brownlow with 10 less votes than GAJ as a result of Gaz getting rubbed out for a nothing elbow.

Who isn't a fan of GAJ!? the guy is defining the odds from all angles. I have never ever seen such extraordinary talent in what he displays. The game is a dull place when he is not playing. I hope he doesn't get ping for that. Absolutely deserves a third brownlow. He is daylight ahead of any player this year its quite remarkable.

I love him, never said i didn't, best player to play the game, but I like Nate Jones more.

But yet you hope he gets pinged for it. There is nothing in it and it would be a disgrace if Ablett was to miss out on a 3rd Chas and a place in history for that.

I'd rather see Jones lead us into the finals this year than win a Brownlow.

Carey, Maurice Rioli, Stephen Michael, Gary Ablett Snr and Robbie Flower were amongst the best I ever saw play but I think Gary Jnr probably has them all covered

I watched Gary Ablett Snr a lot. Ive never seen anybody see a kick and head down charge to where it would land.

He did it every game.

I think it'd be hilarious if he got rubbed out, but I haven't seen the footage yet. I couldn't care less about him winning another one though. He gets a terrific go from the umpires. A genius, but about time he got the wrong end of the umpire's stick.

No doubt he will claim it was accidental, part of shrugging off someone holding onto him after the ball had departed.

That said, it was more forceful than Dawes' slide up the face in play

But do we expect any modicum of consistency from the MRP?

NEVER.

PS I don't think that that deserves a suspension, either.

How can you be so sure he's the best player to have ever played the game when you are only 12?

Where did you get the idea that i'm 12?!

And by the way i do watch old matches of Leigh Matthews, Wayne Carer, Gary Snr, but to me jnr is the best

And he did deliberately elbow him in the face you can clearly see it.

Am I such a criminal because I want Jones to win it?

It doesn't deserve suspension then again Dawes' should have only been a free kick so who knows.

Dawes deserved a stiff fine, but no carry over points, or games missed.

The penalties need to be reviewed. So they can add a set of fines, which should be open to appeal from either side. The fines should be for minor infringements, which are too strong for just a free kick, but not enough to miss games over. A common sense approach, covered by fines & no points added.

Really so Ablett looks around and says I am going to elbow this fella in the head

I must be wrong then or my television set clearly doesn't show his intent. I would argue if it was me I was trying to get up and being held back down so I swung my arm back to initiate contact to his chest to break free.

Mine doesn't show intent either. But on what I saw, he raised his elbow and jabbed it back at a player he knew was right behind him. If he thought about it at all he must have known that he couldn't determine which bit of the man he'd hit - therefore reckless high contact, impact questionable. Good record, could get a week reduced to a reprimand, could get two weeks reduced to one.

Great ball winning players always benefit from the unwritten and unspoken "involuntary retaliation" defence in scraps with close checkers. He was against Liam Picken who is quite a mongrel. Remember his crude stuff against Nat Jones. Ablett will get off.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
