What a turn around this club is having.

Dean Kent: Dean played wing, half-forward and on-ball. He had 28 possessions and we saw some really explosive run and carry from Kenty at times. He was an influential player on the ground, but his laziness with his ball use really hurt the team at times. Defensively, it’s also an area, he can really tidy up too, like finding a man quickly when the opposition has the ball.

Michael Evans: Evo played on-ball and half-forward. He had 26 possessions, but it was a game of two halves for Michael. I thought he was one of our more influential players in the first half. He won the ball well with his run and carry, but his second half was probably a different kettle of fish. His defensive transition was non-existent and he just went away from the team things in the second half of the game, which was disappointing.

Viv Michie: Viv played on-ball and half-forward. He had 31 disposals and used the ball really well, when he won it. He continues to come back from his broken jaw, fitness wise. Defensively, he was really poor this week, which was disappointing for Viv. His defensive transition is an area of his game that he really needs to focus on, if he wants to win his spot back in the side.

Blease isn't a surprise at all. The surprise would be if he mastered defensive footy!

Fitzpatrick is one who I think got a bit ahead of himself with a few good games last year and is struggling to adapt to Roos style footy. Also has been changed from little ruck to a lot more ruck. I expect him to still take more time because learning rucking, learning how to be physical at the contest is going to take a while.

Evans is the one I'm most disappointed in because he's had some good reviews. He's had a brief taste of AFL level. He's got the fitness, he hasn't been injured like Michie. And probably besides McKenzie he should be close to the team and could come in and play half forward, wing, patches at half back or even be made in to a tagger considering he has some fitness, speed and physicality.

I have always thought of Fitzpatrick as a follower/tall forward. not the other way around. a bit of wishful thinking.

Fitzy to me looks more at home in the wider parts of the ground, to this stage anyway.

That is very refreshing to see. The honesty and detail provided to players who racked up multiple possessions yet who displayed weaknesses in their game.

I get the feeling that we will change coaches for the Scorpions if we stay aligned.

Love reading Brett Allison player reviews. Interesting to see a couple of Demonlands favourite whipping boys in Nicholson & Mckenzie are addressing their shortcomings and doing well according to Allison. Hope the improvement continues.

If they're happy with being gods in the VFL, then they'll be gone soon, with that attitude. they need to be more aspirational, hungry & & ruthless than this.

Not worried about Viv. He is a 200 game player. But watching some of the the others they were salt and pepper. Jordie has no awareness and was caught because he showed no respect.. Brilliant footballer in the VFL but guess what there are some that are just as fast and they deserve better. Blease fast but his feet work faster than his brain..

Got to say that the thing I have noticed this year under PR is the belief in the blokes wearing the Red and the Blue. They actually trust each other and are kicking to the jumper. Fantastic because trust and respect is the hallmark of great teams.

Seriously? His Game for Freo against Geelong was a half, in a team that was being smacked before he got on the park. In that game he had 13 possessions, 5 inside 50s, 3 Goal assists they kicked 4 in the half he was on. He has played 2 games for MFC, the firsts a credible 18 possessions the second he had an eyelid split in the first minute , three stitches and no much needed contact lens. MFC was beaten by a truck load and the powers that be felt a 2.5 gamer was one of the two totally responsible for that loss and he got dropped. Played the next game against Essendon and had his jaw broken in the first qtr played the game out including the last two clearances that resulted in two goals that won the game. This week against the Coburg his position was always the D side of the contest. I asked him about this and his response was "Have you ever played at Peel".

Seriously...the coach says he has a problem with the defensive side of his game, I'll go with that. I sure hope Viv does to. You can reel off as many stats as you like but if he's not playing the role the way they want him to then he will need to adjust his game.

I reckon he has a good future with us but he never had any problem playing at this level in the WAFL.

Seems like you are a mate or family, if that's the case the best advice you can give him is to listen to the coaches, put your head down and work hard. The talent is there so lets hope we get those 200+ games from him.

Anyway it's basic logic that if you keep finding lots of the footy and use it pretty well and don't get a ball then the problem must be what you do without the ball.

What we can't do is condemn the poor guy after one partially negative review when the defensive effort was clearly an across the board problem. I'm expect Michie to get another shot at senior footy pretty soon and to do well.

Absolutely. I'll give Welsh the benefit of the doubt on his comments - perhaps he was misquoted or taken out of context. But if not his comments belittled the MFC players and betrayed their confidence if indeed some had come to him wanting to know what they had to do to get into the seniors.

Allison's review in no way justify Welsh's alleged comments. Yes they reflect what he said about lack of defensive pressure and errors but the reviews are measured and free of angst. Of course Welsh has a right to be angry if players make repeated errors but his alleged comments were personal and not constructive and i would have thought made clear a distinction between the MFC players and the Casey players when in fact when they pull on the Scorps jumper they are a team. Such public dissing of one group of players does nothing to reinforce the team mentality.

Arrow if you are reading this i'm pleased the players seem to respect and like Welsh but the player you spoke to talked about a post match address IIRC. The quote from Welsh was form an interview he gave (when apparently seething) and I reckon there's every chance the player hadn't read the quotes given it was buried away in the paper and lots of players probably don't bother reading everything (unlike us tragics). I can't imagine a -player would be too rapt reading Welsh's comments (even if misquoted or taking out of context) as the MFC players come of as a bunch of spoiled whingers.
