I think this is an example of the injury that resulted from the hit. The argument will be what cause the injury Viney's hit our the head clash with Georgiou. I must admit it looked OK to me and I can't see how Viney could do anything else. I thought he hit him up the middle little to no head contact but the impact forced the head back and the damage was done by th ehead clash.

Unless there is vision that Viney hits him high he can't get weeks. It was a sandwich and to me the head clash with Georgiou caused the injury.

Will have to prove that cause of injury was by contact from Viney and not secondary head clash with Georgiou. So going by the vision there is doubt, enough to throw the charges out IMO. Be also interesting what the Crow medical report says.

I've now looked at this a number of times. Viney has problem and two possible outs. The problem is that it looks like he always intended to bump. The first out is that Lynch gets pushed by Georgiou into Viney which changes the angle of contact. The second out (which may not be an out if there's other information I'm not aware of) is that the broken jaw might be from the head clash with Georgiou.

Because it looks like Viney always intended to bump Lynch, he has the problem of having taken the risk. But the two outs might be sufficient reason to argue that the outcome was both improbable and unlucky.

Given the onus is on the player not to take the risk, I think Viney will be having an enforced break.

There is a big difference between braving for contact (and protecting yourself) and bumping, but the AFL doesn't acknowledge this.

If two players run full pace at the ball, both with the intention of collecting the ball and not hitting anyone else they still should be required to protect themselves.

A player owes a ditty of care to others, but a player surely owes a duty of care to themselves as well.

Viney's shoulder broke the left side of his jaw.

He will be rubbed out for 3-4 weeks and might get a reduction for a clean record.

You can't choose to bump, break a guys jaw and not be expected to be rubbed out
