I am amazed we did not pick Gumbleton .

With our injury luck he should have been a certain selection

Not to mention the cloud hanging over him as a participant in the Essendon player drug fiesta.

I can't believe we missed out on a bargain basement recruit whose ingestion of Mexican jumping beans made him a perfect fit for the Dees.

Also coming out of Melbourne that they are also confident he will stay. I will also be confident, when I hear he has extended his contract with us.

Article on the AFL website saying a successor will be named by the end of the year, seems like things are working out at this stage

I know most people dont like the footy show here and i will probably be jumped on but as i live in canberra and its delayed and i couldnt sleep and i was also way to lazy to change the channel that late at night i saw them talking about chip and i can remeber if it was the old idiot or the stuck up dhead nth melb pres that mentioned that its been thrown areound that Frawley will resign to the club when Roos does. And gaz confirmed it.

Frawley gave an off hand remark a few weeks ago to that affect. It was a joke but a revealing one.

I don't even think Roos has to say 'I am coach' - I think if he comes out and says 'I am at the club in some capacity indefinitely' he would satisfy a great number of people, let alone James Frawley.

I disagree.

Either way he'd get to his destination if he wants to go.

Yeah but it may affect (effect? I always get those two confused) what we get back in return.

I am really interested in this point, i don't believe Roos is a bloke to see a job half done, but i also don't believe he wants the pressure and such of being a senior coach long term, i reckon Jackon and co should work on him maybe becoming a senior assistant like Craig was to Neeld to his successor

Maybe. I'd be more inclined to think it may affect the amount Frawley gets offered by other clubs, which in turn means you'd be right, it should affect our compensation.

Then again, it might not.

Depends on how other clubs see his RFA/UFA status.

If they think like H then it's not likely to make a difference to what they offer.

(Effect is the noun, affect the verb)

Yeah but who's Peter Ryan anyway??

AFL reporter on the Dees. He's paid to have an educated opinion on the Dees.

BigFooty poster says a well informed man on SEN claims Frawley's management are in discussions with MFC about salary options. Sounding positive?

I want to believe, but that is sounding like about as dodgy a source as you can get...

Might be seeing if he can get next years pay to go.

He was having a great time at training today. All the boys were actually. Roosy was a no show though so they mainly just focused on kicking and had a bit of fun kicking at Fitzpatrick in the goal square. I think Westrupp kicked the ball smack bang into his head.

Word on the street is that the Mfc think they have him convinced, would be a massive show of faith to the club if he was to resign before mid season

It would be an even bigger show of faith if he signed after our Round 1 victory. Of course I wouldn't count on that happening.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
