Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The 2014 AFL National Draft

It is nice to have some alternate views out there. Quite often profiles circulated through the mainstream are often unbalanced and mainly promotional tools for the draftees. The critical stuff often goes unsaid.

There’s a high amount of speculation with the draft, and I’m certain that no clubs have made up their minds at this stage. There’s still so much football to be played from now till draft time, I’m sure the order will change. Given the evenness of the top group, I think it could change dramatically.

I think North would be prepared to pay way over the odds for Brayshaw. If we happen to be in position to exploit that, why wouldnt we?

As mdemonski2 says my thoughts drifted to Jake Ziebell, too.

As a 23yr old he would certainly be a great get as Crossy sunsets.

But other than him, I dont know what they have that they would be prepared to trade, or that we would take.

RPFC - maybe we could do the old "special deal", hey?

You know what I mean, don't you? Of course you do. Cheeky rascal, you.

Please take this the best way possible: I just threw up in my mouth a little.

If we had only two teams to deal with we could do a deal but it's a bit hard when it is the entire league...

Brayshaw for Ziebell won't happen, they are similar types of players and one is proven. Forget the name, family allegiance means nothing. North desperately need some KPP's though so if you wanted Ziebell a trade of picks might do the job. I don't think we need his type though, we need a bit more run & carry than he gives us.

Already got Jones, Viney, and Cross too,

IMO we need to be careful about unbalancing the midfield make up of our list, lest we end up with too many of the same type and same pace.

It’s a problem that I think the Bulldogs are currently facing with their midfield. A few too many in and under mids and not many genuine line breakers.

We could have used one or two on Monday.

This is true, but it's partly by virtue of the type their father-son selections developed into.

In a funny way they didn't have a choice... although getting Liberatore as a 2nd rounder and Hunter in the 3rd would dull the pain.

And at the same time, not much line breaking youth compared to ball-winners, but what exactly have Cooney and Griffen been doing?

Macrae and Dahlhaus are handy at breaking lines too.

I think their problems run deeper.

Not sure how solid this rumour is at all, but heard on twitter yesterday and thought i would share. Someone said "Dont be surprised if Coniglio is a Demon in 2015" his source was from "word of mouth, from a recruiter".

He'd be a pretty good get, IMO he doesn't look an out-and-out star though, more of a very good meat-and-potatoes mid. Sort of like Trengove, but better.

He would be a very good get, from what I hear he is a great kid with a good head on his shoulders. He would blossom under Roos, Stone and co and would work well with Tyson.

That would be a massive get. Im not surprised though. Dom Tyson lived with him and still keep a solid relationship via twitter and instergram

Not doubting you at all Mousey, but how would this happen? I thought he signed a contract extension at the end of last year with a bunch of others, tying him to the club for at least 3 more years. Doubt GWS will part with him.

To add some spice to this rumour, Coniglio is very good mates with Dom Tyson.

By spice, I mean turmeric.

Edit: Dazzledavey beat me to it.

I’m surprised at this one. He’s a WA lad and have heard almost nothing about him wanting to leave. Thought we’d be a better chance at Shiel or Treloar.

A very well rounded midfielder. Good inside and provides good run and carry outside as well, he’d be a very good get.

it could happen exactly the way we got tyson, who was also contracted.

Not sure about gobsmacked. I'd say he's rated somewhere between 20-35. He is still very slight and predominantly outside. Our 2nd round pick will be in the 22-25 range so someone would have to bid a pick in the low 20's, which at this stage might be a bit of a stretch. I'd say our 3rd round pick is the most likely scenario.

3rd pick is the right scenario for us...for the reasons you rightly point out...we made the. Is take not taking Wines and going for another light framed footballer would be a huge mistake at this time.Toumpass may make it, but may not as well.Stretch ifs 3 years of making a mark in AFL.

If we lose chip I'd consider pulling the trigger early on lever, any thoughts?

Agree- Whilst first pick should be best going around ( also would like it to be Brayshaw),we need good TALLS, both Back & Forward especially re Chips & Hoges un reliability.Chips may go at year end & Hogan, the following, thus need to get a year I to a couple of TALLS this draft.

Great draft to release several players whom are on the edge but just may not make it such as Nicho, Strauss, Evans etc..

Absolute rubbish.

Averaging 22 disposals 1 less then Tyson and 5 tackles a game this year which is 3 more then his mate. Would compliment our young impressive midfield just perfectly.

Yeh like someone above said would be a deal similar to Tyson i would presume. Like i said i have no idea how solid the chance is. Just know him and Tyson are very close and if his contract runs out in 2015 which i think it does (not certain), he may of said look i am leaving once the contract is up, keen for a trade this year if you can get one nutted out with Melbourne. No idea to be honest, but i would love him on the team :)

Agree that Coniglio is not a pure inside mid. He can play outside just as well as inside. Capable of gaining clearances, but also has very good disposal and is quick. Definitely wouldn't hurt having him line up in our midfield.

It wouldn't surprise me if GWS traded a player for an early pick. They had a bunch of draft picks in one draft, so trading one for an early pick spreads their age profile across a few more years.

I think they need to 'Bob', they really need to get some good experience into that side.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
