Enough already!!!

Apocalypse XXXI

Recommended Posts

As a long suffering Demon fan, I wish to lodge a protest over the Fox Footy summer programming which is nothing more than a rip off of its customers.

Since the grand final in late September, they have been showing on rotation every game played during the 2013 season, mixed in with replays of that atrocity of a programme "After the Bounce" which surely ranks as one of the worst programmes ever shown on the a Fox Network? They also show some Open Mike programmes but how many times can we watch the same interviews with Sticks and Bucks?

Why not replay games from other years and programmes like On the Couch, AFL360 and some of the other shows including their older stuff like Grumpy Old Men?

There wouldn't be a Demon fan here who would watch us go around in most of our 2013 games.

Enough is enough!!!

If you're a subscriber, turning off the channel isn't really the answer but yes ... a letter to management might help although it's easier for their budget to just run the same stuff on rotation over the off season.

I would expect that a station dedicated to one sport could at least have a weekly programme covering what's happening in the sport.

Anyway, the NAB Challenge starts next month. Let's hope they can afford to take a camera crew to Traeger Park, Alice Springs.

Pretty sure all NAB Challenge games are covered which is awesome!

The weekly program isn't a bad idea. Although I think they fit some footy news in on Summer 360 and Fox Sports News

I'd be happy with them replaying all games over and over as long as they left out Melbourne's 20 losses this year.

I'm in complete agreement regarding this show. Has there ever been a worse footy show ? Probably, but this goes close.

And Andrew Gaze ? He seems like a very nice guy on TV and radio, but how this semi-literate former sportsman makes a living in the media is beyond me. I know he appeals to the more basic elements of the broader populace, but I can't fathom how he has a role in any media circles.

And that's not to mention the embarrassing antics that Dunstall, Frawley and he get up to during the programme that make it completely unwatchable.

Some games where we were competitive are ok. But how anyone can sit through the sheer incompetence of our thrashings is beyond me. Its embarrassing the mistakes you see.

i love my footy and watch the players for my own analysis, most interested to pick up areas where they will improve under PR

2014 will see me sitting in the normal possie, and armed with a complete reality of the teams improvments

whilst some find revues upsetting i find them interesting.

takes the mind off work

Why are you still watching the footy channel during the summer? The only reason to get it is to have access to live Melbourne games.

Agree RM

Surely we have other things to fill our lives at this time of the year.

cant get off tractor until late december and late arvo at best

so 504 catch ups better than nothing

I could think of nothing worse than watching replays of 2013 games. Good God we are beating the English 4-0 stick with that.

I want the sadness incompetence and despair of season 2013 wiped from my skull.

To top it off Whorethorn won the Grail.

Walk away.

After the Bounce is one of the worst shows ever made, period. It's excruciatingly bad. I'm not sure when Danny Frawley decided he was a comedian but I've got news for him, he ain't one. None of them are. They are ex footy players, and Andrew Gaze for some reason, trying to be entertainers and failing dismally. But idiots like the show, so it stays on.

I don't watch Fox Footy during the off season and I'd encourage you to do the same.

Been watching a few Adelaide and Bullies games to have a look at Bernie Vince and Daniel Cross. Bernie looks to be a really good highly skilled player.

Winners are grinners and losers can please themselves ,do you want them to turn back the clock to 2006 to see a few wins, we mean nothing to Foxtel thanks to past employees that need not be named.

lizard lick towing

container wars

beverly hillbillies

swamp men

The only footy shows I like are on the couch, and before the game (Just been axed :( ). I tolerate Footy Classified and watch the Footy Show for an occasional laugh. The rest are abysmal.

I have said it before on this site, the standard of AFL journalism (misnomer) is at an all time low. (Sorry Emma you are excluded) The entertainment (or lack of it) is sustained by the publics insatiable appetite (includng mine) for anything footy that any old rubbish dished up will get ratings.

I would rather file my teeth down wnth an angle grinder the watch after the bounce and AFL360 makes me want to punch the tele.

not sure why they don't just fill the off-season with classic matches from years gone by rather than repeatedly cycle through 2013 games and that dismal 'after the bounce' or better still credit their customers for hwat is practically dead-air from October to March

Thanks for the heads up Clintosaurus. I've set Foxtel to tape Bulldogs v Adelaide (Round 21) at 5pm so I'll catch both players (assuming they were selected for that game).

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo
