''Neeld bashing'' ? Clearly when discussing present training programs, fitness levels, skills, and gains made it's going to be measured against the past, in which case previous methods may be (correctly) scrutinised.

As an aside, Neeld's horrible legacy shouldn't be forgotten and as a long suffering supporter I won't begrudge others expressing disdain for Neeld, Schwab, Bailey and those that appointed them. I find it churlish for others to make recommendations as to when posters can and can't make such observations.

If others want to ''move on'' that's up to them. I'll please myself.

Not keen on the new name but, as stated, you'll please yourself. I quite liked Hannabal - even if it was after a dog rather than a historical figure

The new name reminds me of a poor unfortunate who was standing the mark as I lined up for goal in junior footy

He gave me the old "Miss, miss. cockie's [censored ]" (pi55 for the censor)

Sadly the silly bugger had a lisp and it came out "Myth, myth, cockieth pith"

Lost all of its intended impact

You're happy to engage in bile soaked commentary regarding Tony Abbott on the General Board, but less tolerant to hear such views about Neeld on what is in essence a football forum. Hypocritical sentiments of the highest order.

Like Samson and his short back and sides, your name changed seems to have weakened your powers of comprehension... unless of course you can direct me to said bile soaked commentary re TA? Regardless, it wouldn't have mattered as it would have been in an appropriate topic... this however happens to be a topic about Paul Roos preseason update... NOT about Neeld... but you feel free to keep staring into your rear view mirror Benny boy.

Anyways back on topic..

Good to hear Roosy has been impressed about our boys so far this summer. Players seem to respect and that can take you a long way just ask the Port boys with Ken Hinkley. The boys there absolutely love him go out there to bust a nut for that bloke.

Me too, but alas Hannabal was banned and is still persona non grata.

That said, when I first became Hannabal Finks said he was disappointed, as he preferred Trav 20. It's what you become used to and I learnt decades ago that one can't be all things to all people. Most here won't understand who The Myth is, but that's fine.

I agree that we can discuss the mistakes of the past.

We don't need to make past employees villians however, and while 'expressing disdain' can be done in a respectful, and yet still forceful manner, it easily becomes crass and vitriolic.

Poster should "move on" from that.

Agreed ... what we don't need however, is posters embellishing the truth with distortions and confected stories of supposedly past events.

The Roos story will be an interesting one to witness as it unfolds. I suspect that if he succeeds in lifting the club back where we want it to be, it will always be looked at in the context of what we were like when he took over in much the same way as the cricket fraternity is looking at Boof's contribution to our Ashes victory in the light of our poor test performances in recent years. That doesn't mean that Micky Arthur was a psychopathic axe murderer as well as being an ordinary cricket coach.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
