Well we are clearly better with the first option, which exists, as the second option does not and will never exist.

It could be construed as a silly question really, or at very best a hypothetical.

No. Trade with GWS was very simple it was 2 and 20 for 9 and Tyson. Sylvia compo went to Adelaide for Vince so I'd leave that as a separate transaction.

That said the Vince v Pick 25 or whatever it was could be answered pretty quickly next year because any form of input from Vince and an improved side makes that the right decision even if Matt Crouch becomes a star.

The GWS deal could also be almost solved pretty quickly if Tyson has a break out year and makes a big contribution to us winning games then we've already won. If Kelly then became a champ then GWS would've won as well but that's irrelevant to us.

Right now as it stands obviously Salem impresses me more than anyone who we would've had available 10-15 picks later and I'm not convinced by any gap between Kelly or Tyson. 2 different players who are both young, unproven and have different strengths with neither having a clear edge in talent.

Right now the advantages of Tyson having a couple of years in the system and of spreading the pressure of expectation on kids being the next big thing is the major positive of the deal. Instead of saying Kelly will be the next superstar and putting pressure on him we can let Salem develop in the VFL and Tyson can make immediate impact.

Tyson with 2 years in the system is a good thing.
