I would've thought the Lions had enough picks in the draft without any extra delistings.

I have always had a bit of time for Banfield... pretty sure he tore us apart on more than one occasion. Definitely worth a look in my opinion.

They want to bring him back in the RD, you shouldn't be so open about it, it let's other clubs no what you are doing.

Unless they want a team to trump them...

Would love us to RD him (if there are no such plans for Nev Jetta)... I get the feeling he fits the mould of the small player type like by Roos.

How?

I've not paid much attention to him in recent years, but I do know the kid has talent.

Why has he fallen out of favour?

Workrate? Discipline? I'm guessing.

On talent alone I'd think he's worth seriously considering.

if we get him as a rookie we are sacrificing nothing to get him so we may as well take him IMO

The Voss kiss of death. Part of the reason all the fringe kids have bailed. Lack of opportunity at senior level and no reward for NEAFL for unless one of the chosen few.

Think Longer, Polec, Kanrezis.

Has just been delisted by Brisbane who say they will pick him up as a Rookie.

Melbourne need a quality small forward to compliment the tall timber. Worth getting in before Brisbane in the Rookie Draft?

very interesting.. I was all for grabbing him some time back.

would qualify for a watch this space development i reckon

If he can't midfield, Roos won't get him.

I would go for him though.

With the interchange cap and 3 on the bench, your small forwards have to be able to run through the midfield.

Banfield is awesome. If he were an animal he'd be a lion.

Have always wondered why he never played in the midfield.

Def worth a look in the rookie draft.

Saad from the Saints also has been delisted. Sure he has drug investigation ongoing but think max was 12 games and it's just a rookie spot.

It's said Saad will get 2 years so a bit of a deterrent I reckon!

Does Banfield possess much of a tank ?

That's up there with "why isn't Nick Sautner getting a game?".

HAHA, what a trip down memory lane. Can you remember who posted that?

Thought this bloke had a bit of ability. Can get a goal and has pace. Strange delisting IMO.

He is a player who would fill a void on our list if the club rates him, but I get the feeling Roos will use midfielders on the flankers rotating thru the middle. Just like Sydney do with their model.

Having said that Sydney do use specialised forward and back pocket players. I'm sure the club would look at him with pick 57.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
