Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I am trying to not put expectations on this kid but its really hard.

The videos didn't help.

The good things is despite our midfield, he won't be the sole target up forward, he should have at least a key positon tall or two to help out, plus he has shown he can play CHB if its all one way traffic.

Lets hope he doesn't have to enduer 100 point losses though.

Great videos thanks Guys. i particlarly enjoyed the first one to see all those goals against Carlton's VFL side.

Great stuff. Boy this new forward line is going to be exciting

HF: Hogan. Dawes Lennon

FF: Bleese. Clark. Howe

OR

C: Watts. Viney. Lennon

HF: Hogan. Dawes. Fitzy

FF: Bleese. Clark. Howe.

Extra-ordinarily difficult to match up on, especially on a dry day, or under the roof at etiad.

Can't wait for Viney, Vince, Lennon, Watts, Jones, Tyson, Grimes, Garland, Toumpas long bombs into that forward line and see the havoc wrought. It will be ugly - for opposition teams.

It is going to be an exciting season I reckon.

Will have to get the forward half up and chasing though, specially Bleese and Howe

He looks rock solid in defence too. Hopefully we won't need him to down there but another strong, tall backman we can rely on will be very, very handy.

If he ends up playing in the back line I'll be bitterly disappointed.

As will I, but if a scenario presents like Frawley going down in the dying minutes with the game in the balance, I would be happy to see him down back after watching that vision.

I'm not sure Hogan down back at least some of the time is not such a bad thing. David NEITZ says playing on the likes of Carey and Jonathan Brown taught him more about forward play than 10 years of coaching. After all, Carey did famously say Neitz was the best CHB he played on, and I would argue, particularly in the last 5 years of his career Neitz was the most destructive forward in the competition.

hogan I think will in many ways be our modern day Neitz (and Clark playing a fit Schwartz, and Howe ROBBO), that is quite some combination.

We really need Clark and Dawes fit and firing to give Jesse the support he needs in his first senior year. As the third tall in his first year he'd be 2nd to none.

I would like him,to have been born in Victoria, that is my only extra wish here.

Nah...you reckon Carey wishes he played back and Johnno Brown wishes he played back just so they could learn to play forward. I don't think so. This kid monstered VFL defenders just like he will in AFL. He's got the mongrel of plugger and the run and competitiveness of Brown, forget defence and easing him in he's up for the fight round one. We're not talking Watts here, if anyone tries to put it on him they will come off 2nd best.

he could honestly kick 50+ in his first year.

Clubs will have to put there number 1 defender on Clark

2nd defender on Watts

3rd on Hogan

4th on Dawes.

I reckon Hogan and Watts are more dangerous that Dawes.

But some weeks Hogan could attract 3rd/4th defenders which is amazing

Watts will be playing mid but I get your point, there will be enough forward power to keep opposition defenders on their toes.

I don't watch a lot of Casey, so to be honest haven't seen much of Hogan.

However, those videos show a couple of really obvious things which will help from day 1:

  • he uses his body really well, especially for an 18 year old. That first goal against North - he really pushed the defender out of the way
  • he attacks the ball just like Clark does and you can't teach that.
  • finally, he plays in front - a couple of those grabs were just great positioning and the defender couldn't get around his strong position.

Really bodes well for next year.

Not sure I fully agree. Dawes and Clark are bigger than Hogan (height and weight) and of course more experienced. I think at least initially we will play Clark at FF ( and he will be picked by up no.1), Dawes at CHF (by no. 2) and hogan as a fast leading HFF (by number 3). Throw in Howe on the other flank and then rest Fitzy in the pocket and you have a complete nightmare for match-ups.

I think teams will try to counter by first of all winning in the mid field, and then a highly defensive punching game and get their smaller backs to run off our tall guys. If we can break even or better in the mid field with long accurate kicks, it will still be a nightmare for opposition.

Roos must be pinching himself with excitement at the strategic fun he will have in directing this particular chess game.

One thing he will drum into them though is the defensive pressure all over the ground will be critical. I think that will be his biggest challenge in getting the gameplan right.

looking good for the forwards in that dawes, hogan, fits, howe are all good athletes with pretty good pace and engines and can work hard defensively also. could definitely be interesting for opposition back lines. fingers crossed we can keep them all fit.

If we end up having Hoges, Clark, Dawes and Fitz all down there at once is there a team in the league with a back line with enough height to combat that?

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim
