Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I'd like to see what the BP lovers of a couple of years ago have to say now.

Here's a snippet from your mate Baghdad about BP:

"Year one was Watts, Blease, Strauss, Bennell, Jetta, Bail, Jurrah, McKenzie and Healy. Healy is the only one that is gone and of the others there will be few if any misses. That's quite an extraordinary performance for a first year recruiter and he showed a lot of guts picking Watts over Nic Nat because he knew Watts would take years longer to mature and he would be judged harshly initially."

"Year two was Scully, Trengove, Gysberts, Tapscott, Gawn and Fitzpatrick and (Joel) Macdonald. Gysberts was the gutsy pick here and initial signs are very positive."

"I think BBBP has an exceptional eye for talent evidenced by McDonald, Davis, Howe, Bail, McKenzie, Evans and Nicholson. He was gutsy with Cook and Gysberts. We will miss his footy smarts, independent thinking and courage and if we are Premiers one day his fingers will be all over it. Good luck Bazz."

I'm not sure if he's changed his view, Rob.

Anyone comparing to Taggart to Michie should note that Michie averaged 26 possessions a game for Peel Thunder, won their b&f and got 13 possessions in half a game at geelong in the AFL. Like comparing apples to turnips.

Taggart never even got 26 touches in a game, and actually in his 17 games this year only got over 14 touches 4 times and one of those was 15 touches.

It's worth remembering that Taggert's selection was reportedly not BP's decision, but that was made by Neeld, after Taggert was the only prospect to send Neeld a letter when the email address was offered during draft interviews.

I do think Taggert had a good character, but his lack of real pace, a tank to play consistently in a VFL midfield, and his underwhelming performances to date, have all sealed his fate.

Maybe worth a rookie spot in such a weak draft.

Good luck to all 3.

Surely we could delist more then this.

I love AD term List-cloggers.

IMO the MFC is full of List-cloggers who need to be removed.

Clearly if Roos is serious about improving the side the list had to be turned over.

The limiting factors appear to be our bottom of the heap attractiveness to players, a so called weak draft this year, players contracted beyond this year, a need to maintain some semblance of structure for next year and I would imagine Roos unfamiliarity with many of the club's players.

I actually would be interested to see who has made the call on some of the players like Taggert. Clearly Roos would never have seen him play and would know little about him. That means that while Roos has agreed with delisting it was probably not his call. I am imagining that Viney and Rawlings and to a smaller degree Mahoney have made several of the delisting assessments.

I could still see another delisting or retirement coming even of a contracted player.

Hopefully we can position ourselves with a decent player in the PSD as it appears that GWS has their pick lined up and that makes us the first live pick. That is a good opportunity to get a decent player who may be unhappy with what his current club offers.

Gee some posters on here must get dizzy from all the spinning from changing direction so rapidly.

Roos is appointed coach and you can hear the orgasmic groans all over Melbourne

"now we will see some changes"

Taggert is delisted and what?.....why has this happend?.....why not delist A, B, C....

So this footy dept is inept as well is it?

Whilst I'm surprised Taggert got the chop over Jetta and Nicholson, who IIRC are out of contract, I'm very happy to see Clisby get promoted. Hopefully he starts Round 1 and continues to go from strength to strength.

I am a big for of Clisby and hope he plays from round one too. I cant recall if he has served his suspension fully yet? does he have any games remaining or is he right to play from round 1?

I'm a big fan of Nev Jetta, his body has let him down but to me it is between him, Clisby and Strauss for that back pocket position. Jetta's biggest issue was in his first 2-3 years he was played in the wrong position, he was never a small forward. I was hoping he could build his tank to get into the midfield that's where he would play his best footy but last year he should enough down back to keep him around for another year.

When you look at Magner and Taggart, they are so far down our midfield list now that they would just never get a game, we are adding 5 midfield players through trade Tyson, Vince, Michie, Cross and national draft pick 9 that would jump in front of them and considering they couldn't get a game last year they had to be moved on.

What are you talking about?

Jetta has never been played as a small forward.

It's only the ignorant who refer to him as one.

He's always been played as a midfielder or a defender, a high HFF at an absolute stretch.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
