Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

AFL NATIONAL DRAFT - Pick 9

As much as I like him, I've reconciled that Lennon is a risk when we need a pure explosive mid for balance.

It's Freeman for me, from Salem and then Sheed.

Comparisons to Tenace are off the mark.

He could run all day, but was outside and couldn't find or kick the footy.

Freeman will be an inside mid who gets to the drop of the ball and uses his athleticism to get to one stoppage after another, then break out of congestion, not line-breaking on the HBF.

Scharenberg's potential availability is a game-changer. I'd be surprised to see him slide that far.

Billings no chance to get to us.

I want nothing to do with a project like Bontempelli.

I think Aish will slide, but not far enough for us to have the chance.

Salem to be the safest bet, but Freeman more suited to our needs.

I tend to agree Machsy. I had been favouring Lennon for pick 9, but I have been convinced by looking at the available videos and reading opinion of people who should know, that Freeman would be perfect for us. Sort of a cross between (from my vintage) Greg Healey and Ricky Jackson (from the 1988 GF side), or more recently of Aaron Davey (in his prime) and Maloney (hopefully without the attitude, although I think I may have developed an "attitude" if I had to play under Neeld). Either way, I think he would add real grunt and speed to our mids, and complement what is looking like quite a promising ruck division. He and Viney together I think would be quite a sight.

Why don't we take Nathan's bother: we could do a lot worse?

Why don't we take Nathan's bother: we could do a lot worse?

After reading that the stingrays had to pull him from warm ups toward the end of the year so other players didn't get hurt I'm warming to him!!

9 is probably a bit too high but time will tell.

Actually the more I think about drafting Zac the more I warm to the idea. Initially, like most posters, I thought we should target the best "Midfileder" available, whether that be Freeman, Salem, Sheed etc and somebody who has the body to play Round 1 2014 would be a help. Then I thought that the person that we draft should be the person who we would least like to play against (viz. the Wines vs. Toumpas philosophy)! I have now settled on the idea that we should recruit the person that we want on our team rather than the opposition's, a subtle difference but the idea of having the Jones Brothers tearing up the midfield excites me!

I personally wouldn't spend pick 9 on Zac Jones, but for all we know he could end up being the best player in the draft.

...or Jim (just don't let him near the drink bottles)

... or George (it might be a good year for the Demons as long as the bottle doesn't let him down)

I'm now bracing myself at the prospect that Freeman will not last till 9 if all reports are true.

Said a while ago Brisbane will be our biggest threat and looks like they will nab him at 7..

That probably means that Scharenberg will still be there.

Daylight robbery.

That's not how it is, BB.

There are 5 cars on the lot and one maybe two of them is the porsche, another two are solid toyotas and there is one made out of cheese and doesn't have an engine.

And they're all under a tarp so you can't tell which is which.

Freeman or Acres for me unless Sharenberg or Billings slide which must be unlikely. Salem did nothing for me in the championships and although some of highlights look good a 17 possession average as a midfielder is worrying.

That sums up my position pretty well BRFE. I'd love Scharenberg or Billings to slide but doubt that will happen. I've been on the Freeman bandwagon for some time but feel he's the kind of pick up that will go one of two ways. Either his pace and inside ball winning skills will translate to the AFL and he'll become a star or he'll be a bust. Can't see him playing 100 - 150 solid games. Acres was my pick for the MFC competition. Not quite sure why but he's had me interested for quite some time. Tall, versatile and skilled. Good combination. Anyway, I've actually committed to going to the draft so I get to tick another thing off my nerdy footy experience bucket list!

So the talk is now that Scharenberg has feet issue's, which is why we flew him over to get checked out. Not sure if that means he'll slide to us, or even past us, but whenever there's talk of a reasonable prospect being injured it's always followed with the names Judd and Selwood who of course fell because of injury concerns.

Not at all saying he'll be anywhere near that good, they just always highlight those who slid because of injury who go onto be stars, I'd prefer if they also mentioned those who came in with some concerns and then never made it, so we could have some ideas that clubs are either very good or lucky when it comes at rehabing the young guys to become good players.

I'd take Scharenberg if available even if he has stress fracture in his feet. He is the prototype midfielder going forward. Otherwise if Aish is there or Salem. Freeman's disposal worries me.

It's amazing how the draft selections change towards the last week. All of a sudden we could have Aishe and Sharenberg to choose from!

Reports (from reading the press etc.) are that we're not particularly interested in Aish, as we're after inside players. One of the reasons we were prepared to drop from 2 to 9, and why there are starting to be mutterings that Aish could fall to Collingwood.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P
