Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

AFL NATIONAL DRAFT - Pick 9

What

Recommended Posts

grundy went at 19.

i think we're going to get something of some degree of quality here.

i'm very pleased by the trade, especially if we get 21 and don't trade it for bernie.

In a supposedly relatively even field of 'top 10 to 15' draftees, we are going to have the opportunity of selecting a kid with great potential with our pick 9.

Freedman, Couch and Sheed should all be available for our choice at that pick. They have all been touted by posters as likely candidates for our original pick 2.

If this is the case then our trade for Tyson and Pick 9 has been a most positive one.

Collingwood want pick 6 so they can get Bontempelli.

Bookmark it.

There'll be a lot of good options for us.

Just gotta figure out which is the right one: Lennon, Salem, Kolo, Crouch, Sheed, Freeman, Taylor, Acres, a slider..?

Ending up with Billings is pure fantasy.

Looks like pick 9 has become pick 10 with the Saints somehow getting pick 9 for Dal Santo in compensation

what a [censored] joke

Thinking about it this cant be right. Gws mid round should be higher then st kildas mid round

the article on afl.com says the saints are hoping to get a compensation after their second round pick. So where did you get that from?

Deleted my post, was just someone winding me up thank god!

Could pick 9 be traded also? Is there another established player worth going after?

A mate at work reckons there's a rumour going around that we're interested in Myers for pick 9 - mind you, he is an Essendrug supporter.

Weight: 78kgTeam/Club: Victoria Metro/Northern Knights/Ivanhoe GrammarPosition: Half Forward/Half BackPlayer Comparision: Dustin Martin/Dayne Beams (forward version)Draft Range: 7-15

Player Profile

Ben Lennon is very much in the mould of a Dustin Martin type, in that he can play virtually anywhere between midfield and deep forward where his strength and marking power see him play a key forward position, despite being only 188cms. Gifted with versatility and explosiveness, Lennon makes big impacts on games no matter which position he plays in. Some prefer him up forward, where his marking ability is second to none, and his goal nous – either on the run or from a set shot is ultra-reliable. Lennon has a booming kick that penetrates well over 60 metres, which if in defence, plays a bit similar to Shannon Hurn. Up forward, Lennon is very smart, he does like to wheel around and carry on after marking and can finish with ease from outside 50, or hit up a target inside 50 lace out. Lennon has terrific pace, makes multiple leads, and has his running patterns down pat. Not only a brilliant tracker of the ball, Lennon is also very agile, mobile and clean beneath his knees and has a knack of kicking multiple goals. Earlier in the championships, when Lennon played out of defence, his whopping kick cut through zones, and sometimes cleared them, allowing Metro to go coast-to-coast with ease. However, it’s his form torwards the later end of the TAC Cup home and away season as well as the finals series, where he has demonstrated a huge ability to roll through the midfield for the Knights, and play very much as an attacking midfielder which has really shot him into contention to go as early as pick 7 to the Brisbane Lions. His first final against Gippsland was reflective of this, having twenty-five disposals, five tackles, seven inside 50′s whilst kicking three goals. A big time player, who stamps his authority and dominance on the game.

Quote

”I think I’ll always be a half-forward, so I am comfortable playing there. If I can get as comfortable playing in the midfield I’ll be pretty happy.”

She has freeman at 10, Sheed at 11 and Crouch at 14.

Suits us perfectly with St Kilda now with pick #9 as compensation! I think Freeman suits us perfectly and has the body to be able to play in 2014.

I don't want Koladjashnij... his name is too difficult to spell. I approve of any of Freeman, Sheed, Crouch.

Imagine the late Jack Dyer trying to come to terms with his name.....OMG.

Will find it very difficult to yell his name out at the G.

Don't even know where to start.

...or finish either

Twomey reckons Koladjashnij has come from nowhere but deserves to be top 10, he would be my prediction as the biggest get this draft

From nowhere?? How about Poland....or maybe Iceland?? Perhaps Holland, like our "Russian".

I just like the fact that our pick is late enough in the top 10 that whoever we pick wont have quite the level of hype that we've placed on Trengove, Toumpas etc.

Pick 9 is late enough that the recruiters will have a decision to make, where as pick 1,2,3,4 are usually decided based on AFL media group think

You really think the top picks are recruited based on the media? No way. The media, fans and recruiters all watch games and guys get reputations that help keep them up the top but no way do players get recruited based on the media.

Remember because North have had to use #8 on MacDonald (FS) our pick is really #8. You could also extend that and say that because GWS are having to pick up Boyd at #1, in terms of mids our pick is really #7.

As others pointed out there isn't too much depth this draft - but pick 9 leaves us still in the thick of it with quite a few great options!

Ps, I know what you mean though.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
