Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Very true - which a why it's pretty stupid to go around regurgitating them as fact.

Never said it was fact. Just reporting a quote, like everyone else. And to be honest, I'd be a lot happier to use pick 20 on Z.Jones than trade it for Vince.. So I hope its true.

It's kind of funny the way that so many people in this thread have talked about trading pick 20 for Vince or using it on Jones as if they're the only two possibilities for the pick. I don't remember reading anywhere that said we'd pick Jones with pick 20.

Great friend of mine went to the draft combine with the assistant coach of the stingrays. According to the asst coach only club at the draft combine who made serious enquiries about Zac Jones with the coaches of stingrays was the Swans.

The feedback on him that whilst he is a more naturally gifted footballer than his older brother he is known to be a little bit selfish amongst the coaching ranks, a good development program would probably be able to get that out of him, this is coming straight from the coaches at stingrays so dont shot the messenger.

They believe he is 2nd rounder in this draft but depending the reaction to his attitude he could potentially slip to late 2nd rounder or even early 3rd.

Probably watches his brother get burnt by his teammates every week, and figures he has to be a selfish player to survive.

Do you even understand the phrase you used?

"If I'm not mistaken" implies that you believe it to be true.

Based on a Facebook page.

Despite the fact any team would be mad and grossly negligent to have made any such promise this far out from the draft, and when draft picks can still change hands.

When you have no real idea if Jones is actually even close to being worth that pick, but you've fallen for the baseless romanticism of drafting an existing player's brother.

It defies all common sense, and you were posting it as if it was your truth because you had some sort of real knowledge of the situation, not because you are silly enough to believe something written on a nameless faceless bloody fb page spouting crap.

Is that you Jose?

M, don't take a page out of Ben's book. I enjoy your posts. :P FWIW, I enjoy Ben's too, but usually only when he's not King Insecurity.

I'd be interested to know how many posters have actually watched Z Jones enough to make an accurate and valid assessment. I hope the sample isn't simply one or two YouTube clips. I wouldn't be shattered if we used pick 20 on Vince and Lyons, because I'm not privy to how hard players are avoiding us. Under different circumstances, I wouldn't entertain them for that pick, but we may have to.

Mundy, Butler, Gilmore, Willits, Polo, T Murphy, Dempsey, Bower, Stanley, Grigg, Hislop, Urquahart, Ward, Notte, Maric A, Strauss, Swift, Ballantyne, Griffiths, Fyfe, Bastinac, Smith, Pitt, Lamb.

They are the picks 19 - 21 from 2003 to 2010. Of the 24 picks I reckon there are 4 or 5 good players - Mundy, Ward, Fyfe, Bastinac. There are some ok players - Grigg, Ballantyne and Smith.

If we trade pick 20 for Vince given our situation I'll be thinking we've done a sensible thing. If we get Lyon as well it will be robbery.

Lamb is a good player, but otherwise I agree.

Josh Mahoney said on Adelaide radio that the dees want to trade for Vince but will NOT use pick 2

HUN is saying that GWS have interviewed Vince as well but no formal offer has been made... yet. Seems like there is some interest in him but it sounds like we have actually made a contract offer and are keen to deal, which will probably be around Pick 20. GWS are probably the only club who could trump if they were keen enough to offer their compo pick in the first round.

Also says in the article we have interviewed Jarryd Lyons as well - we have two weeks left to take Vince and Lyons for Pick 20 if we can pull it off...

With Shaw at GWS next year, taking up a good portion of their cap.

Bodes well for us in recruiting Vince, if they're our competition.

You would think so. Also, they have so many (young) mids, not to mention Scully. Do they even need a player like Vince?

A very astute analagoy and I read somewhere recently that this is the exact same method Paul Roos uses when determining a draft pick's worth (although can't remember if it was hearsay or fact).

Vince would be a good get as a 2nd round exchange. Crows want to get in now before he becomes a free agent next year (and maybe no compo). Offer our "Sylvia compo" likely pick 22.

If we can 3-4 good mids, we may start ... um, er, well, hmm ... even to be ... yes here it comes ..."COMPETITIVE".

Are there any Dees players who managed anything like these figures this year?

I hate nothing more than selective data, this is like hearing journos say the Hawks kicked more goals without Franklin - because Franklin was rested the vast majority of times they played against GWS and GC in their opening seasons.

Please don't bring up this guys statistics, I would say they're far from spectacular as you've eluded to here and would rate our very own Nathan Jones a better player.

In saying this I would still like the club to obtain him as he would add some valued maturity and depth to our list.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
