Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I hope you are not referring to me as a pig (sow).

The thread is not to seek sympathy, but rather to discuss whether what we cop from the media and the other clubs is fair and balanced.

Unfortunately there isn't a lot in this comp that is "fair and balanced".......

But our lot is what it is' and it is up to us to fix it. And if others are whinging maybe we are getting something right.

Thankfully we are finally seem to be doing the right thing for this club to get back to where we all want it to be.

Bugger everyone else, we get this right any bitching and moaning won't matter.

"Fair and balanced" is what the conservatives on Fox News Channel use to give legitimacy to their often unbalanced views of the world.

I think in a way Ben Hur has it right but I don't believe that it's wrong to point to inequities as long as you're prepared to go out and do something about it.

Unfortunately, for way too long, the people in control of the club have always tried to be far too nice. Neale Daniher once said we should become ruthless but he stayed nice. We kept him on as coach for 2 or 3 years too long. And don't get me started on Dean Bailey or Mark Neeld.

Are we being treated fairly by the AFL, the media, the other clubs and the public? Probably not but let's do something about it. I think Roos has started off on the right foot. Let's keep stepping on the toes of others and eventually, when we're winning like Hawthorn and the Swans we'll get respect, not because we ask nicely for it but because we demand it by our actions and achievements.

Its so obvious that t he people running Melbourne over the years have caused all of our problems. Whinging, whining, wringing of hands, playing the blame game is a waste of Energy. We are where we are because of all the bad decisions we have made as a club

WE cannot blame the AFL ,the system, bad luck, any indivigual or anything else.

The club as a whole got us here the club can only heal itself.

I for one am glad we wont get a PP. We don't need it and I would prefer that clubs in future when we start to win cannot say you got and unfair advantage. We must become tough uncompromising hard and feared. When we do that then we will stop being the laughing stock and tool of the AFL

What many are seemingly either too happy to overlook or incapable of understanding is that this game is effectively played as much , if not more , off the field as it is on. Game day is but the tip of the berg, whats floating beneath carries more weight in what and how goes on in this league.

Weve been practically non existent off filed in terms of this leagues administration, time to spark up, indeed arc up

What we need to do now is move on but not to forget. Other club's supporters will say 'poor old Melbourne' and so forth now but I can hear the cat calls of 'AFL assisted' coming later on. We need to remember these people at the end of the day are not our friends. It's great that Eddie gives us Queen's Birthday but if it comes to anything else which might get us of life support and competing with Collingwood, would Eddie be so 'supportive'? Jason Taylor anyone?

We have had a stigma of losing hanging over our heads for too long. When we do start winning, I can see tossers like Basil Zempilas and Dwayne Russell saying condescending things like 'Melbourne aren't used to winning'. I want to see the day where we stick it up the dates of these muppets. I can guarantee you that they will be sycophantic in their praise if we do start winning like they are with Geelong, all the while forgetting what they said about us in the past.

(A lot of ifs in this post!)

Eddie doesn't "give us" QB.

The AFL does.

Eddie and Colling%#$& don't set the fixture.

Eddie gave it to us a "home game " every year.

We do not have to share the gate every other year!

Eddie is not the enemy in this instance.

My main issue has always been that we roll over far too easily.

Whilst I see all the injustices mentioned, on far too many occasions we dont even raise a whimper in the face of these injustices.

We need that to change.

edit - I was envious of the Ross Lyon coup by Fremantle - whilst we played it by the numbers with Lyon, Freo identified what they wanted and went out and got it. They havent looked back since that day - it sent a very strong message about how they wanted to be perceived. That is why I was so adament about Roos - dont move on when he mumbled "I am not interested in coaching at this stage" ( not sure how much this was a rouse anyway). I hope this change which is in no small part a PJ thing will continue. Aim for and get what you want without compromise.

I'm sure Eddie likes to spout that its at his behest, but the AFL would make that decision.

"Eddie, we give you only give you 1 Sunday game a year - the dees need QB and that's how it's gonna stay."

I would tend to agree with this view. Eddie is after all a showman ...he can dress things up a tad !!

I do however concur with OD that in general Eddie isnt our enemy. Theres a long line in front of him

Fantasyland.

How much more could Collingwood make if they alternated QBW as a home game against Richmond?

We should be thankful he isn't agitating on this. We don't have a God given right to QBW.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
