I am completely bamboozled by the amount of uncertainty towards Dustin Martin.

A quality player could do wonders to the team yet no one is willing to take him.

Everybody wants Taylor Adams from GWS, isn't this the same Adams that assaulted a person and left him with a broken jaw????

How can you allow that but not Dustin???

Martin is on two strikes. And continues to stuff up off field.

Adams punched a bloke just after he was drafted. Who knows he was probably defending himself.

Adams is also very vighly rated for his leadership skills and is being talked as a future captain.

We're sick of wasting early picks, when we need not only quality & class, but we Depth of quality. Martin could & sounds most likely to be another wasted early pick.

Adams for me.... Gaff, or use it in this years draft ourselves.

Adams also received a diversion order, which means that the officer that charged him didn't think it was overly serious as you can only get diversion if the police informant consents.

Adams hasn't put a foot wrong since. There's still big question marks over Martin.

Andrew Swallow over both of them.

Adams, Adams and Adams.

And Swallow as well please.

Both would cost us under $1mill. Dusty will cost us between 700-750k IMO.

yes he would cost that much because he is one of the best players in the afl already at 22

imagine what roosy could do to him!

Don't agree he's one f the best players. In the long run, Adams and Swallow are much better value. Roos could do much more with players who are focussed on the game.

Spot on mate, D.Martin is an idiot now and will be an idiot in ten years. Look at the influence around him (Martin snr)!, we all dogged Scully for leaving and now we want someone who just chases the money?. Flag that! Give me a couple of young blokes that are wired properly. Swallow or Adams all the way

Sorry mate, but do you mean David Swallow? I would love to see Andrew Swallow at the club but I don't think it will ever happen.

If you meant David Swallow, I couldn't agree with you more :)

Adams.

I don't really like Dusty and his attitude although he does have a good highlight reel.

I could see him tearing it up in a Melbourne jumper but don't want to throw a bad egg into the batch just before we start cooking.

I think its definitely worth taking some risks (dayle garlett/Jurrah) but I don't want to have to pay overs for someone with a ? over their head.

i'd honestly love both.

But i'd rather Martin at the moment..

I would take either.

But its Taylor Adams for me.

He is not far off being as good as Martin.

He would be cheaper salary cap wise.

Would cost us less at the trade table.

Not as much baggage.

Yes they could and i would rather see Adams & Swallow!

Adams is a ten year inside mid with no off field baggage, and less of a profile so much easier to get a deal done, cheaper and imo his best football isn't far behind Martin anyway, Martin looks maybe a little better than his is because of the quality of the richmond midfield, he is all attack and no defense.

Adams has plenty of off field baggage.

Was charged with assault in a pub circa 2012.

You could technically argue that Adams is more of an issue than Martin given that Martin hasn't got a criminal record that I know of.

So one incident = to plenty of off field baggage?

Where Martin has :

Drank and taken pills the night before training

Refused to listen to the club in not to hang out with Dan Connors.

Turned up in poor condition to pre season

Went to St Kilda's Mad Monday 6 days before the finals match against Richmond.

Continued rumor of Martins drug problem and supposedly 2 strikes to his name.

Has connections with bikeys

Im not saying we shouldn't get Martin but please its pretty laughable when you say Adams one incident 2 years ago(and has since has had no problem's) has more off field baggage then Dustin Martin.

a minor bit of unsociable issues is OK, & I would back Roos in to get that sorted.

..... but that Iceman is just Too cool for us.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
