I won't rejoice even though I have wanted him replaced for years. He didn't keep offering himself contracts, others did that.

Thanks for your effort.

Yeah I appreciate his efforts and obviously he wasn't working with the best, but he has a big hand in their development and has to be held accountable.

It got to the point where the situation probably wasn't benefiting either party so the right decision has been made, finally.

Is this just a rumour ?...... or been stated in media?.......same thing I suppose.....

Reported by the club site.

Yeah thanks.......I'm a bit slow today.....

Well said.

Bit hard being the mid field coach of a mid field acknowledged as the league's worst for depth , & Roos' highest priority in the rebuild.

Losing T$ didn't help this either.

Would prefer we acknowledged his efforts, over 2 stints with us, and wish him the best.

No ill will towards Brian. As was already mentioned it was our incompetance that brought him to the club.

I am rejoicing though as we finally have some genuine football people running the club who know what it takes to compete at AFL level. Roos in particular. Didn't win a GF by identifying and employing 2nd or 3rd bananas in critical roles throughout the Swans' FD.

It's finally happening and if I was 20 years younger I'd be attempting cartwheels right now!!

I have never been a fan of Brian.

So no tears from me.

If they made the decision they must already have a new midfield coach in place.

No announcement from the club.

Could it be that the mid field coach is still tied up with a club in the finals.

That narrows the gap to 6.... Does that make it easier?

My guess is Leigh Tudor or Nigel Lappin

Don't worry about the naysayers, they mask their own inadequacies by demeaning others, Brian Royal gave his best and should be acknowledged for his efforts.........the honeymoon will last until the first heavy defeat next season.....and yes it will happen

the guy is a disease....

Nice.

Let's not be too uncharitable. It's hard to assess how much blame should be apportioned to Royal when one considers the cattle he had to work with.

Agreed...I liken Royal's task in coaching our midfield to that wonderful line from the film Christine - "you cant polish a turd".

Roos was always going to bring his own people in. Does Roos know how good BR is or isnt in the two days he has been with us ? I suspect he has asked people with knowledge prior to his in the club if there are any coaches that are really worth keeping hence it looks like Rawlings is the only one who is staying.

If anyone outside the inner sanctum would like to judge our assistants coaches - every one of them including Rawling should go and Viney as well for the complete lack of development. Lets get rid of the new recruiter as well because Toumpas hasnt done as well as Wines. Misson certainly has to go. Glad Craig is goingto after our last two seasons.

I find it amusing that we stick the boots into Royal but we give respect to Craig as he comes across as a good bloke - but the main reason Craig was brought in was to mentor, council and and help mould the first time coach in Neeld - how did he do with that task ? From an outsiders perspective Craig was as epic a fail as Royal was.

I think we have little insight to these things and if Roos wants them to stay thats good and if he wants them gone thats also good - but I won't slag off any of the departing.

Brian Royal was ass coach 2000 to 2003 and had stints at Rich, Nth and St Kilda before re joining us in 2010.....He had a lot of experience in footy depts in a range of roles....Not his fault that we didn't recruit quality midfielders.......I think he did his best with what he had to work with

I just want to thank him for the service that he gave to the MFC............

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
