Sensible move to me.

There are evil people out there that may try to convert her to Collingwood.

As a good Dad you need to get in first and protect her future.

You should also get a few spare membership application for the MFC for when she gets older and starts to bring boys home.

Haha, I'll kindly pass them the membership forms before I chase them out of the house with my shotgun ;)

Well my Girfriend is a One Eyed Swans supporter.

yeah i know i know... its just nice to see the smile on her face when she yells "Ball" when someone handpasses. But i suppose she likes the pretty colours and loud noises..

Anyway i will be signing her up for a membership this year. She loves Roos and its the first step in converting her into the Melbourne Family..

My partner was a St Kilda supporter but I kept taking her to a mates to watch each game and she eventually just kept referring to our boys.

I then signed her up with no objection.

Both you and 'Canberra Demon' show how fabulously cunning and subtly persuasive men can be! Good work. Could also be that your partners have opted for the 'anything for a quiet life' option.

My husband is a Pies supporter but each year for Christmas I buy him a Melbourne membership. I tell him its the gift that keeps giving! My two dogs are members and I think I may sign my Mum up this year as well. She has always supported the Dees but never been a member and only attended her first footy game this year on Queens Birthday - its never to late to jump on board.

My recommendation is to replace the shotgun with a chainsaw as it has such a higher fear factor.

The boys will fear you for decades to come so sign then up for 10 year MFC memberships at a time.

That's correct - has been for more than ten years now. I always rearrange his wallet so his MFC membership card sits in the front and his Pies one gets lost in the back amongst the other rubbish!

I do wonder how many members have their membership 'paid' for by people such as us. I get four a year and my wife who is a recipient has been to two horrid games and just grumbles about the number of membership scarves we have flooding our little NY apartment. I wouldnt be surprised if the few members of Demonland made up 15% of the membership.

Clean you need more control over your husband as he has too much spending money if he can afford a Collingwood Membership as well.

You done a fantastic job so far but I would recommend setting seats in the middle of the MFC cheering Squad. Right next to the loudest and most colourful Supporter would be the ideal location. Throw out all his Collingwood Clothing and Dress him in MFC gear. Take lots of photos and send the pictures too all his mates and family.

If you truly love your husband you can't just stand around an let him support a team like Collingwood, its just not right.

IMO you should be voted Australian wife of the year, keep up the good work.

:rolleyes::rolleyes: :rolleyes: :rolleyes:

It's good to see 12,178 members signed up already for 2014. That means we need fewer than 28,000 to reach our long sought after 40,000 target. And we have 9 months to do it in.

Most of the membership will be MCC members like me who have added MFC membership to their packages. However, it's still a very good start. I seem to recall that we have achieved 17-18,000 members by December in previous years, so hopefully we are seeing the Roos factor at work. Anyone got any past membership stats for this early please?

Now, if only the MFC could learn to punctuate in their home page membership update.

Snap!

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo
