I'd rather Simpson or Burns over Kirk.

I would rather who ever the hell Roos thinks is going to be our next premiership coach.

I would be happy with that.

I had a chat with my friend who Is involved with the Lions last night, and while he said he isn't certain he said the whispers going around the club are that Adam Simpson has pipped Neil Craig and got the gig.

keeping fingers crossed that Sumich gets the Eagles gig and we lock in Scotty Burns.

If true a massive risk i would have thought sacking voss then going to a first time coach, albeit one with big wraps and a fair bit of time as an assistant

Caroline Wilson reporting Justin Leppitsch will be Brisbane coach

Wow, she rarely gets it wrong. That is a huge gamble from the lions

via Tiger source - sounds true.

To me it is down to two Simpson or Kirk, and this will depend on the Brisbane job but the only reason we haven't annouced yet is our prospect is still coaching in the grand final.

Correction, both prospects are coaching in the GF.

Do we have to pay out Craig then?

I would imagine so, but he will probably come to an agreement with the club over the size of the payout.

Caro just announced that Dew who is currently @ the swans was looking likely to be lined up as the senior assistant to Roos, But again Colless, and now John Longmire and Andrew Ireland not happy about it,

... apparently MFC going to back off. Interesting choice if it were true, and not something I saw coming!

Roos mentioned on OTC that Dew applied for the position, but that the Swans won't allow him to be interviewed. Roos didn't make it clear as to who first approached who, but I got the impression that maybe Dew made the move.

Thats what they were told on Footy Classified, but Caro mentioned that she heard Roos had made contact with him.

Either way, its an interesting development that he is even being spoken of in the same sentence as Burns, Simpson, Tudor etc...

Gut feeling that this Senior assistant could be a left field appointment that none of us see coming.

I thought Roos made the point it was Dew who applied for the role, i may be wrong,

And that assistants are allowed to apply and accept roles which are of a higher position to their current role while under contract, as stated by the coaches association.

Have immense respect for Richard Colless and Andrew Ireland for their service to AFL in the rugby states but an in contract assistant coach should be able to move to a senior assistant/senior coach in waiting role in the same way that an in contract assistant can move to a senior coaching role. If it is a promotion then they should be able to move.

Maybe someone needs to tell Colless that Roos is the Melbourne Coach and his responsibility is to do his best for us.

Isn't that what I said?

Well my source clearly has no idea what he's talking about :P

would much rather Simpson than Dew, I think he'd be a fantastic influence on our midfield.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
