I am glad he is getting it back together but jeez, he is a long way from the AFL right now. Really good to hear that we have helped him and that the boys visited him, but if he wants back in the AFL

I do not think LJ will get back to AFL standard, but that's not to say we as a club should not help in the rehabilitation of one of our own.

If he wants that help.

Probably at Casey, with aid and assistance from MFC,

Cost is negligable, rewards could be ginormous but the improvement in self worth and morale by the cub and supporter base

outweigh those costs. And when he was on song, man he could play.

Just because it might not work is not reason not to try. LJ back or winning tattslotto I can Dream if I want to !

The unusual lattitude afforded to him by the club for the alledged machette incident did not go unnoticed by the playing group.

In what way and by who?

It's funny that people have made statements to this effect from time to time but I've discussed Liam's situation with a few players and I got the impression that they were supportive and understanding.

Would the MFC have continued to maintain the contact through Craig Lees (who I understand incidentally, is leaving the club) if this was a problem with the players?

As to a comeback to the AFL I agree that it's the longest of long shots although the use of the final rookie spot would not be a great cost to a club (Nathan Stark played only six games for Casey's development league team this year).

Liam would need to get his head in the right space in a very short period of time and he would need to convince a club of his rehabilitation and willingness to accept some strict conditions including the undergoing of a mentorship. However, I fear there are too many issues that need to be addressed, many of them outside the realm of an AFL club.

A great dream though ...

Signed up to say I would love this, if; LJ had the right mindset. Were we to present the opportunity he would have to work a tremendous amount for it.

Rookie listing him would be a risk but that said; I would watch every one of his games, Casey or Seniors - for the story, the spectacle and the pure highlight real he was as a player.

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

    Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval.     With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

    The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals.     The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week.
