It's NOT old news, Ling just spoke about it on the pre-game show about 20 minutes ago.

There's a difference between you seeing Ling at training one day and Cameron himself saying on TV he's thinking about coaching and has spoken to MFC.

He has previously said he is interested in coaching, not sure when though. Said same today. Old news.

He is mentoring the Melbourne captain, he has had informal chats with Melbourne. Hold the presses!

Are you trying to be the king of the internet or something? Why are you trying so hard to make this into something you apparently said a while back?

Cameron Ling said he has had a chat with MFC about coaching next year, and in the CONTEXT it was said it's a big deal.

The internet isn't a competition mate.

Just pointing out that this isn't news to the king of irrelevant replies

Well you thought it inside your head a while back, but tonight Ling said it himself.

That kinda makes it news.

Facts, FACTS, you cant handle Facts !!! Its a fact apparently that 99% of facts ....aren't. So we have no worry about dealing with facts here DemonOX....:)

U come out with some gems bb I'll give u that.

Surely MFC couldn't make any firm deal with him until we get a coach first. Perhaps the most it could be is 'would you be interested if our new coach asked'.

Alternatively we can start a rumour that the coach is already chosen.

Just a thought maybe the MFC know who they want as coach and could have a verbal agreement in place.

Now it's a matter of getting the required assistants.

Hey this is the MFC anything is possible.

He was captain of the best team to ever grace the football field, at a club that turned it's fortunes.

Cameron Ling would be perfect.

Ling is the ultimate battler that got the best out of himself.

Come to think of it, he'd probably be the best player on our list - barring Jones.

I agree and I know his credentials, although it would be completely idiotic to give the key midfield coaching role to someone who has NO coaching experience.

He was an excellent on field leader, by both influence and order. However with the situation the club is in we can not afford to place blind faith in someone without the coaching experience.

If the club is back to this position in three years time, I don't know how it will survive after these first two strikes under Bailey and Neeld.

I'm sure Ling himself would do a better job than Brian Royal, although Ling will be more suited as the Midfield Development Coach (1 under the Midfield Coach or his left hand man).

With the club going forward I want to see three experience heads as the Defensive, Midfield and Forward coaches. Then their assistants/ development coaches who can be your Lings, Kirks, Browns etc.

The development coaches (assistants to the Defensive, Midfield, and Forward coaches) should be young and enthusiastic (e.g. fresh from the game and well respected by all, like Ling).

These blokes will be fundamental for developing the players skills and instilling a culture with the right attitude to train hard, play hard, and never give in.

I think Ling would be great for the club. Just as long as he doesn't compare rebuilding a club to redesigning tomato sauce bottles.

I can't imagine how getting Ling as an assistant would be a negative. He comes from a very successful club that knows what it takes to win and he is one of the hardest working players I've ever seen.

I would be stoked if we got him.

I'd love Ling, Simpson, or Hayes to join the club.

If I was them I'd be very reticent to join the Melbourne Football Club. I'd understand if they erred on the side of caution.

Well, the guys who have been mentioned as possilbe assistants are all the sort who won't run from a challenge, so it's entirely plausible that they are considering joining the fun. It's shaping up to be a very interesting few months around Demonland.

True. They were all very courageous.

They were also good at decision making. Don't hold your breath.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
