Jack Watts - More Discussion (for those who haven't had enough)

Pretty sure he would have known coming on the show they would have been asking the hard questions.

The guy has and always will be a mentally soft in the head.

But in all serious if being nervous is an excuse that he needs to harden up big time and needs a massive reality check!! He is a profesional athlete and its part of the industry.

Back to basketball you go jacky boy.

Nervous 22 year old goes on TV...

Demonland reaction:panic.gif

Guessing you didn't see it?

He is Gawn.

Whole panel knew it straight away and whole crowd made noise at once as he spoke.

You can p155 0ff Watts. We'll trade you for Tinkerbell. At least she has a lot more gumption and committment than you. If you are not sure about wanting to play for us and want to see what "happens", then go do it elsewhere! Geez you have been a disappointment to this club and have never delivered on the chance you were given. Shut the door when you leave!

I watched the whole show closely and Jacks first comments left me thinking he'll go. His later comment plus my reflection left me thinking he may stay and he was just being absolutely honest, as opposed to flying the flag saying he wants to stay as everyone else does (even if it's Bs). His honesty seemed naive and undiplomatic, but refreshing.

Hahaha

So many supporters concerned that their pea-hearted darling isn't committed.

You lot are pathetic. : )

I'm concerned he's not committed to leaving.

I really like Jack, I think he's a prodigious talent.

However, we have 3 better performing KPF's and another one in the wings. If you don't want to stick by us, don't expect us to cheer you.

Haven't seen it, seen enough on the field.

He is soft.

Always has been.

Always will be.

Did anyone else see that great footage of Neitz they showed when he just went in hard and sat his opponents on there arse. That Luke McCabe hit was just brilliant. Nice to see Neitz in the audience. Something Jack should inspire to be

GWS won't touch him and he'll end up at StKilda, cop it!

I remember his first game Mum said the family were all StKilda fans. Maybe less of a 'cop it' than you think

Who's the marketing manager at our club? Wtf are they doing having Watts on national Telly, lapping up his little fan club in the audience, when the club is on it's knees?

Another embarrassing night for the MFC.

I think the tendency of posters to use apostrophes in pronouns is far worse than the situation regarding Jack Watts.

Great! It won't be so hard to convince my 3 and 6 year old nieces to support the Dees with 'Tinker' floating around the forward line.

Can anyone let me know what Jack has said on the show

Anything said by Jack?

I've bloody missed it

I am watching now (in Sydney), and quite honestly, I cannot see what all of the fuss is about. Sometimes this forum strikes me as being like a brush fire...just one spark and the whole place goes up in flames. Edited by hardtack

22 year old. Talking about contract situations. Think about how you would have handled going on national TV talking about that when you were 22.

Give the kid an effing break.

I was an arrogant over-confident [censored] when I was younger, and I could very nearly back it up too. I know how I would have been in his position. It might not have been a great look, but I would have been a lot more confident and I would have been talking the club up for next season.

I got that too. He seemed to me to be genuinely unsure about where his future is. His handling of the questions was very poor and he probably should have been coached better, but I would say he's still very much undecided.

For the rest of it, I really take exception to his little line about the club being on the way up three years ago. As has been mentioned, he is one of the players who was supposed to be making that happen, and he simply doesn't have the onfield presence we need him to have. It was particularly jarring given that Neitz was there and seeing the footage of him crashing through players and throwing his body in just accentuated Jack's inadequacies in those areas. He's never understood that the way to get the team playing better is to work harder and lead the change.

I just hope he is ashamed of performing in such a meek and insipid manner in front of two club legends tonight. It might be the spur he needs to pull his finger out and fight for a win or two.

I think Watts was ambushed with that line of questioning and in trying to answer honestly used a poor phrasing, but it's really absolutely no different to Buddy Franklin and Dale Thomas' stance at the moment.

He is waiting til the end of the season to make a decision.

It just so happens that we are in a much worse position for convincing a player it is worthwhile staying, but that shouldn't be a surprise to any MFC supporters.

In the end, I think it depends what we are offered for Jack.

Remember Sydney kept ROK against his will, but it turned out ok in the end.

Mind you, Watts isn't a shadow of ROK.

Skills-wise he is great, but some of the things he said... Still not taking ownership of his own destiny, not-so-young-anymore Jack.

I think you must have had quite a bit to drink

As far as i am concerned it all comes back to that Newspaper interview he did a few years ago when he said "losing didn't really bother him" or words to that effect.

It just proves we didn't have a winning culture then & it still hasn't arrived & that Jack Watts is not a leader in any way..

Seeing Neita in the audience was like chalk & cheese to Watts.

You can just imagine what opposition players say in his ear.......

Can a good coach turn him around???

Posted

trading him for a quality midfielder of a similar age will improve our team a lot

Would happily trade him for Taylor Adams or David Swallow

Posted

Here a radical though, lets only recruit players who actually want to play for the MFC.

It's a giant' problem here-

up there with world hunger .

Yet we struggle by.

Lets be honest - where does jack fit? I see him as part of the problem.

The only problem Jackie boy has is Jack!

I cannot believe the amount of support this guy has received from the club and on demonland and basically he has told us all it counts for nought and he is more important than the team

It shows Jack It shows your weak character

Now just go away and play for the Saints and rot there maybe they will put up with your self centred narcisism

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
