Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Typical stance by Robbo " Bombers must fight "

This guy is im affraid an absolute dropkick.

Robbo...theres no injustice mate they brought it on themselves. They are the cause. Essendon aren't being unjustly persecuted they are being held accountable and taken to task. Only an idiot couldn't see that....oh...

Just read this and burst out laughing:

“The club will continue to act in the best of interest of its players and respect the integrity and confidentiality of this process,” said Paul Little.

They just don't know the difference in meaning between 'continue' and 'start'.

Could Trenners get a show cause notice?

The case against Jack was based on an ABC report about SMS messages between Dank and Dr. Bates (a former Melbourne club doctor) suggesting that he should be prescribed a cream containing AOD9604. It has subsequently been reported that Jack was in the clear.

According to Gerard Whateley on AFL360 the show cause notices don't refer to the use of AOD9604 anyway. The inference is that the notices relate only to the alleged use of the "bad" Thymosin. I would prefer to wait on official confirmation that this is in fact the case but if it's true then Jack would appear to have nothing to worry about.

Most of Essendon is going to wake up to Friday the 13th. LOL

What I was getting at was that Saad consumed a commercial drink of some sort and was done like a dinner. Essendon players were taken off site and injected with some as yet unknown substance and still nothing has been done!!

Fair enough.

I think the Saad case was straight forward. Positive test, A sample, B sample, no further investigation required.

Essendon case doesn't come with positive test results, largely testimony and circumstantial evidence. Testing this legally is proving to be far more complex.

I really doubt that. Narcissistic sociopaths don't have consciences, and many don't actually believe they have done wrong. Delusional.

I hope they do. I hope they drain every cent they have in this already lost battle. Then Hird can go on Oprah and admit his sins, pocket another mil, while a once proud club lies dead in the gutter.

If we are going to have the AFL story of the century then we might as well have one that plays out to the bitter end.

Can someone clarify the potential bans these players face. I was under the impression that these bans would have to be served in season, therefore a two year ban handed to a player would have to be carried out over 4 seasons (March-August = 6months served).

However, a recent article on Ahmed Saad by Emma Quayle stats that he is hoping to be drafted for the 2015 season (would miss some early rounds) after starting his ban late November in 2013.

There has been conjecture that Essendon players may only receive 6months ban if they were cooperative with ASADA investigations. I'm not exactly sure on the criteria they have to meet, but my impression from nothing more than the running media commentary would indicate that this would be unlikely. Now for a hypothetical... could we potentially see Bomber players only receiving 6month bans in the offseason from September - February and therefore be ready to go for the 2015 season?

Not sure I get the collective mentality of all players uniting to try and fight this. Everyone and their pet cat knows they've been duped by Hird and his regime of drug-injecting buffoons. Come clean, sue the hell out of him, and show some goddamn integrity. None of these players will come out of this looking particularly ethical by sticking their fingers in their ears going "la, la, la, you've got no evidence to prove we did this!"

If my employer betrayed my trust and confidence so grievously, I'd have zero allegiance to them whatsoever. I'd be trying to salvage my professional career using any means possible and seeking every legal avenue to do it. Why wait until the [censored] hits the fan with infraction notices and you've already had your name tainted for life?

That is true in the normal workplace, but even with free agency and the loss of the loyalty that many of us supporters bemoan, blokes in footy clubs may still be loath to take such steps.

Uncle fester - that would be a very sad situation.

Total popcorn moment tho.

It's already sad. But I'm not the one directing the movie. I'm just the schmuck that is paying to see the show. And I want some bang for my buck.

there was some talk of their bans being 6 months - if that were the case they were going to try and serve them starting october and not actually miss any football. (which would have been a disgrace)

While firstly I think this bad for the AFL brand which may impact future sponsorship and revenue I now really hope that the book is thrown at them to ensure this never happens again

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin ventured down to Gosch's Paddock to bring you his observations from this morning's Captain's Run including some hints at the changes for our ANZAC Eve clash against the Tigers. Sunny, though a touch windy, this morning, 23 of them no emergencies.  Forwards out first. There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
