Is a very strong possibility the way GWS are currently towelling up thePIes!

Except for the fact we need friggin midfielders!!! No use having 5-6 good tall forwards when the ball cant get near them. If we were to get pick 1, it needs to be traded

Instead of Sheeds giving a half time speech, he just shown the GWS troops a picture of Tom Boyd.

The rest looks after itself.

There is not a hope in hell and I mean a hope in hell, that GWS will get off the bottom, it will not happen.

But, it all matters very little to us, we should get pick 2 and a priority pick anyway, we are pathetic.

If the Melbourne Football Club ever, EVER, tanks again. I am out.

GWS aren't beating Collingwood today, we're going to show some fight and ragdoll the traffic cones next week, and our club is going to start winning back some respect.

GWS are still ahead in the third, though they won't win.

We won't be tanking next week, but am worried GWS may have too much upper body strength for us.

No. We don't need more 18 yr old mids. we need elite 23Yr - 29 Yr mids with mature bodies... we have enough 18 - 20 yr old mids...

... & of the young draftee Mids in this years draft, we can topup with more kids, with picks we trade for,,, or with our 2nd Rnd onwards, as well...

our 1st picks have to be Best Available.

Today's Auskickers at Docklands have more upper body strength than us.

Tom Boyd would be a great get to ontrade. We have Hogan.

But we could deal hardcore with every club if we had Boyd.

But GW$ will have first pick. They won't win 2 games.

Nice dream though.

Huge game next week, Cameron was on fire today.

Hope Frawley is ok. Otherwise Cameron is kicking at least 5 on McDonald and at least 8 if we keep Pedersen in the team to help bring the ball to Cameron's feet.

If we get Boyd I will cry. We need mids not kp players!

If we do get pick 1 then we can trade it for a good young mid or 2.

Absolutely! we need two quality mids at least, maybe dale thomas as a free agent and another as a direct trade for pick 1 but either way we need to make it happen

Passing on clearly the best player by all accounts.

It would be stupid to pass on him.

If we were to get him, trade for a mid. If we had the first pick, I'd be trading Watts and as much as I hate the thought, Fitzy as well.

IF, and it's a big if, we get pick 1...

Swap for Dane Swan? Freo need a KPF, swap for Nate Fyfe? How about Daniel Rich and a pick? Cooney and WBs first pick? Swap for Rory Sloan and pick?

All hypothetical, of course, but it would be interesting to see what pick 1 is worth if it was up for trade. Also depends if there is a PP added to our mix.

Sheeds will be talking this up big time to his boys about getting there first win. Apparently when they played the dogs he told them it was there grand final.

God I hope we dont lose. Im pretty sure when we played them last time we held cameron goalless or kept him to a very low number. Hopefully Frawleys hamstring is ok and Col can come back in.

Getting Wines & Viney together is worth a thought. I am sure Port would give up 2-3 players for a Boyd.

Toumpas needs more games at Casey. He is not ready at AFL level.

So you are saying keep him on our list for 2 years and then trade him?

First of all that is cold (that's an 18 year olds life you are playing with)

Second you are expecting that in that two years he will improve and increase his trade value (don't forget our recent development has been like - cook, Morton, gysberts, watts, trengove, scully etc)

Just trade the pick to a team desperate for kpf and that has an established young mid (we need results and we need them quick! ..and I am not talking just about the supporters)

I was thinking along the lines of a 23-26yr old with about 100+ games. Maybe Wines and Robbie Gray or Dom Cassissi?

We will lose because we are soft and crap. Sometimes there are many nuances...sometimes there aint.

Between bailey and prendergast, well, they totally destroyed our drafting. WE are dead in the water. And, as the saying goes, you are dead for a long time.

Spot on.

We have to be very proactive this year, half our list is crap.

Surely you wouldn't be suggesting that there is "tanking" going on in the AFL,particularly not in the AFL's own team?

But...that would be bad for the "integrity of the game" and wouldn't be allowed by DimWitriou, surely. LOL

that could work.

The last 6 years have failed so badly i actually think this list has to be carved up and sent to new homes.

These guys cannot play together.

There is no Trust. Not even the Captains have the required ticker.

Oh now I understand your post - was a little miss leading (did you even go too school?)

Still don't agree with you though - why trade off two kpf's that we have been developing for 4-5 years and then get an 18 year old kpf when we are in desperate need of results. We can't just keep rebuilding and focusing on the future otherwise this club won't be around to see the results. By the time Boyd develops guys like Sylvia, Jones, Clark, Dawes and Frawely will be past their best.

I would take Boyd then trade on 1 or 2 of our other forwards. He won't need a lot of development time, similar to Hogan he will produce results that would be superior to what we have now in his first year.

Frawley, Garland and Jones would be just about the only non tradeables we have apart from the kids like Viney in their first year or two. All bets are off with everyone else.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
