Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Melbourne has moved on from Roos

Melbourne has moved on from Paul Roos to fill its vacant senior coach position

Finally, we hear they are scouting the other main contenders.

It's down to three now - Williams, Eade and Craig.

With the stuff coming from the players about Craig, he is firming as my most desirable prospect.

Finally? Do you really think they put together a group to pick the next coach just so they could say "well, it's Roos or I guess we go without a coach....."

I didn't think anything could make me look forward to the end of this season more, but all this constant he said she said about Roos is doing it.

Williams will get the gig..

read the form guide ie;

roos; akin to chasing windmills ... (the lady doth protest too much methinks)

eade; has committed to aust team to play irish @ years end & taken a job on rules committe for next year( he is moving on )..

wouldn't take either if he thought he was in with a shot.

neil craig SHOT himself in foot with the geelong game on sat & all the neg.press about the lack of troop movement...

pj hasn't come this far to go backwords..

williams ;;glowing endorsement from ex port players ie;cornes & rich.players . & held in in high regard by pj @ afl ingeneral...

thats the field. !!!

@ $7.00 quoted with "sportsbet" to win a max. of $500

pretty fair chance considering tab offering only $4.. but u cant get on for anything reasonable. or has been suspended.

They have just discussed on SEN that the dees have contacted Roos again on Friday an again he said no ATM I'm not interested. As a result PJ has said ok we are moving on to other coaching prospects.

Good to c we are not trying to convince Roos to coach cause as some have said on here we don't want a coach who has to be convinced to coach us we want someone who WANTS the job.

For me it's now Williams.

My mail from the start was that Roos wouldn't coach for private family reasons. In any event, the last thing we need is a coach who doesn't have passion a la Malcolm Blight at St. Kilda a decade ago.

Neil Craig has certainly "freed up the players" and that resulted in some better performances but from a long term perspective, I'm not sure that this philosophy is enough to get us up to the required standard to challenge the top teams.

Williams has always been Caroline Wilson's favourite for the position and since it appears that she has the AFL's ear, it will probably come to pass.

The quoted $7 would relate to a market framed with Roos odds-on

"Roos has refused to rule himself out completely, and if he changes his mind he will get the job."

How nice of him.lol So we still have four usual suspects really.

Whilst I have no doubt Roos would make an excellent coach . Two aspects do irk me about his demeanour..

One...acting like some sort of god and toying with the club. Yes I appreciate there are fine lines to walk and such but really, its just a bit of a prima donna carry on. But its the second area that worries me more. And yet it too is supposition in the main ; that he would be doing it essentially short term then handing over to underlings. Thats just mercenary to the max. ( if it were the case to be )

Whomever comes in I want them to invest as much of themselves into the task ahead for a reasonable period of time. Say 4-5 years. I dont want any fly by-nighters with one eye on the meter and the other on the door.

I was asked my opinion some time ago as to my personal choice and I replied with Williams. He is still my preference. If Roos deigns to change his mind all well and good but he would want to be doing it properly and not half hearted..

I think given time it might well be a case of Roos Rues Ruse

Williams is a no brainer for me. I think he is perfect for this club - for so many reasons.

And get Junior McDonald back as part of the package.

that would be great to bring them both in

and i agree that CHoco brings many things, and one of them is his charisma and ability to sell hope

Don't get me wrong I want Williams too but is he to out there or too much of a risk with sponsors?

Will he boost the membership?

This is my concerns.

Though I love the notion of Junior what credentials as to coaching does he have. We need to think with head not heart.

Still if he has something to bring he ought to be entertained ( as applicant )

What?!

It's been a few posters here who've been boxing at shadows about Roos. I think he has been quite clear throughout - and, it seems, his message to the public has mirrored that to Peter Jackson.

But some here have refused to take his statements at face value and, instead, have been in the conspiracy theory headspace throughout, pretty well despite his stated position - their position has seemingly been based upon very weak signs, eg, the curl of the lip, the smirk off the main camera, the stated intentions of James Hird a few years back. All hardly compelling evidence IMO.

That would have been the reaction if any of the past 2 coaches had succeeded I would have thought.

So after all that he still hasn't said a definitive "no."

Even though it now looks highly unlikely, Jackson has still managed to leave the door ajar with those comments..

Well I feel that this story still has a bit to play out. I still have him in the loop.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
