Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Pardon my ignorance if this has been raised but what about Billy Longer? Ruckman who has had 2/3 years in the system and is looking to come home. Looks accomplished as a player and is still very young. Just wondering people's thoughts on this

massive vertical leap at centre bounces.

WE dont need Jolly we had him and we sent him away

Midfielders only please ball winners only

...... more than anything, we need to change the culture. otherwise more of the same is what we'll get.

having players who've come thru and adopted a strong culture will understand it & its benefits, & this will help change our old ways.

if you want to go to an absolute extreme end of something, then thats up to you... but it is possible to get mature players who can play top footy and add something to change the culture.

.... oh & I see you've already written off Pederson before acceptances. I'll back in Roosy's team to help Ped'o become a valuable acquisition.

Rodan Gillies were fill ins 1Yr each,,, to help the transition of the list cleanup, to which Roos will benefit from.

If you take off you monocle, you may just be able to make out how the list has changed over the last 2 years & has a fresh look about it.

Byrnes will still be helpful.

Certainly wouldn't surprise me if Jolly ended up with us.. Roos loved him at the Swans, at 32 he would appear to have 1-2 years left max but if he comes free it wouldn't matter that much. Roos did something similar with a 32-year-old Spider Everitt many years back. Probably one of his more unsuccessful recruits it should be said.

Call me petty but I didn't like some of the things that came from Jolly's mouth after he left Melbourne.

I've always sided with Jolly on that stuff. For me, this is the point where the club fell to bits. Daniher clung onto players for too long - we then basically retired an entire list in one go. That is always going to lead to serious imbalance in the list.

Please tell me, what are we going to do with;

Jolly

Jamar

Gawn

Spencer

Fitzpatrick

Dawes

Hogan

Clarke

All good enough to get a game, only so many places.

Roos aint a Neeld (dud), I would say he is talking to Jolly for a coaching position only.

Interesting to reflect on what could have been. Jolly was briefly with the dees and looked like a useless goose with no potential. He then went off to the swans and the filth and was an absolute star. Now he might return to the dees as a clapped out useless goose.

I have spent 3 weeks watching EVERY melbourne game again and based on this season I would like to see Melbourne's list be as follows for the 2014 season:

TRADE

Jack Watts & 3rd Round selection to Carlton for pick 10

Colin Sylvia & 4th Round selection to Kangaroos for Greenwood

Jamar & Pick 10 for Taylor Adams and their 2nd Round Pick

Lynden Dunn to Gold Coast for 3rd round pick

DELIST

Rodan

Gillies

Tynan

Sellar

Draft

Pick 2 (Priority) - James Aish

Pick 3 - Lewis Taylor

Pick 19 - Matt Crouch

Pick 20 - Luke Dunstan

Pick 41 - Lloyd Perris

Pick 64 - Cameron Giles

With Greenwood & Adams included

Our 2014 Side:

B: Giles Frawley Garland

HB: Grimes McDonald Terich

C: Duntan Jones © Tompass

HF: Howe Clark Trengove

F: Dawes Hogan Byrnes

R: Gawn Viney Adams

I.C: Greenwood, Taylor, Fitzpatrick, Crouch (sub)

Emm: Nicholson, Kent, Barry

Sylvia cannot be traded, im sure by now you know that.

Secondly, regardless of Sylvia not being tradable, why would you want to trade Sylvia for Greenwood? Sylvia is actually good.

Watts is also someone we need, wouldnt want to trade him.

This would completely go against anything Roos has immediately said, he wants Sylvia and Watts, THEY ARE REQUIRED PLAYERS.

also, i very much doubt we'll get a priority pick

pretty much.

it'll be interesting to see what the approach is with jolly, jamar, gawn, and spencer all on the list together.

I suspect that Jamar would have heard that Gawn & Spencer, + Fitzpatrick, are ahead of him going forward. He may not get much of a go. He may like to look to other pastures for more opportunities?

In this scenario, Jolly if not picked up by others, may look to us for a rookie spot, & an assistant coach role.

If Paul Roos was not coach and new coach x was talking about picking up Jolly particularly after the fantastic success of our mature age players this year he would be howled down on this site.

I dont think its a good idea unless it is a Ben Hudson set up and it is clear he is there as absolute back up and to mentor and nothing more.

^^^^ Can you change your avatar? Every time I see it I vomit a little in my mouth.

Not sure how we could accommodate a trade as he has another year to run on his contract but if MFC approached #3 at WCE they may be surprised how interested he is in leaving.

Darren Jolly to be announced on a 4 year deal at Melbourne... Not sure how many if any are purely coaching..

My own little addition to this is he will have the 4 year coaching role but within that each year his playing contract will be 1 year basis...

could maybe churn out 1 or 2 years at best!

I reckon you're lying

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
