I sure am.

If he is caught having done something untoward then he will have his own problems. The AFL has all but signed off on our money. That wont change now.

What hes doing or rather what they *( the AFL ) are doing for the MFC is separate from any dealings that AD might have with the murky world of Essendon Pharmaceuticals !!

I would find it very hard to believe that AD tried to undermine ACC or anyone else for that matter, somehow I think he's a bit smarter than that, that's why he's paid 2 million a year, [censored] some people are ungrateful .

Its nothing about being ungrateful. Hes doing exactly what the league NEEDS to do , refurbish an icon for the greater good. We just happen to be that Icon.

I dont take him for a fool but he may well have been too clever by half in this instance. If he has compromised ASADA in its dealings then he himself will be guilty of bring the game into disrepute.

You dont just turn a blind eye. Im sure the relative Gov agencies and their officers wont.

This is bigger than the AFL

Gotta love the HUN front page today...discarding The Windsor madness of course!!!

It is just Gold.

Hirdy knew all the time didn't you.

He enjoys lying to the media doesn't he...

Bomber Blitz will be hysterical today.

It's close.

Now some real fun...Hird and Corcoran are at odds with Demetriou and Evans.

Its all unravelling....lol

SO. lets get this all straight.

Essendon players have taken banned substances (as admitted by jobe Watson himself).

Andy D finds out that they have been investigated by the ACC and RINGS ESSENDON TO TELL THEM.

Essendon come forward less than a week before the ACC has a press conference (timing, or did they have the press conference because Essendon came forward?)

basically whats gone on here is that Essendon have cheated, AD has just about died because he knows without a competitive Essendon in the comp for a few years crowd figures (and hence his bonus) will be down, so he tells Essendon and goes into bat for them.

if this is what has happened, AD needs to go and not work in the afl again.

if Essendon are not given a HUGE whack for systematically taken banned drugs, the consequences will be massive for the entire game.

Seems to me the only rats out of this whole investigation is Hird and Dank, James Hirds AFL future is finished.

As is often the way the truth is in there somewhere but seldom sides totally on one side nor the other.

Theres just too much funny stuff here. The timing of certain events and "outings" is far from coincidental. Theres more than one game plan afoot here I think and its that theyre not totally congruent will be their undoing.

Some powerful egos at play here. Talk about a Mexican standoff...lol

Thing is, not every one CAN be right.... who's telling the bigger fibbies !!! Stay tuned for the next episode of SOAP !! :)

Going to be interesting watching the various parties' exit strategies and who gets hung out to dry first.

The timing has always been the one for me. Evans knew there was trouble brewing as the media were on to something, that they all seemed shocked at the press conference and in particular Hird never rang true to me.

AD might not have told them of the investigation and he may not have been told at the time by the ACC which club was involved but he would have had a very good guess. He did know a club was being investigated so his conversation with Evans may have been along the lines of "Mate, I strongly suggest you get on the front foot, call a press conference tomorrow and announce an investigation." but....."tomorrow David."

Its interesting to note what is being touted as the various versions of the 'truth" and what amongst it isnt being disputed.

There seems NO doubt Vlad spoke with Evans. No party is denying this >>>>>> given

One side says ( well one PERSON ) say I took a call from David ( evans ) this being AD

Another(s) the Meeting was underway and Vlad called David.

Now, unless Danny is in some poo way beyond his neck whats his motive for corroborating Hird ? unless its simply the truth.

Hypothetically I can see what Evans and Vlad would want it seen as though Essendon instigated the call for this then goes to the notion its always been Essendons intention to come out and take the front foot. None of that however gels with the stance taken by Essendon early in the piece as they were very much on a front footing but it was to take a swing at anyone who dared question the motives and /or events surrounding the 'experimenting "

Why would they suddenly tuck their head in , change feet and plead the 5th ( sts ) Spiritual enlightenment,, voices from the afterlife , tea leaves ??

We revisit timing. Bombers change tune ( and tempo) IMMEDIATELY after Evan and Demetriou talk one night...

Hmmmm !!!

I haven't followed all this in detail, but AD defence seems to be in this quote in the Hun:

  • "And I did not for one simple reason: I didn’t know who the club in question was. The AFL wasn't aware of who the club was in question because the ACC, who briefed us a few days earlier on the Thursday, wouldn't disclose to us who the clubs involved were."

So did AD call ALL AFL clubs that night to warn them that a club was about to be investigated, he just didn't know which one? If not, it is clear that he was tipping Essendon off even if he didn't actually say 'they are after you guys'. Especially as it seems a lot of questions were already being asked by journos about Essendon. If that is his best defence then he'd better throw in the towel.

Is this as sinister as it is made out?

It was essentially just giving them a head start with regard to PR - their absolution will not arrive, the penalties would not be mitigated by that press conference way back when.

Convince me this is sinister.

Not sinister. But if you are told something in confidence and you blab it to anyone, especially a concerned party, your integrity and trust in you heads south. And surely that is something that could affect the final washup.

I think he absolutely knew which club was in the picture for this. Hes no bunny. He will have heard ( Hird ) a few things floating around. Once (officiallY ) briefed by ASADA it was time to find the Fan's switch and turn it off before it got ugly. It still has though and I dare say is about to get really fugly !!

Nothing sinister ?

Adolph redrew a few maps one evening just for fun, nothing sinister.

Youre probably right about one thing actually RPFC.....its very much about perceptions and appearances as far as Vlad ( & Co ) is concerned.

Considering what's at stake Im not surprised for one moment that the Secret Squirrel Protocol was invoked.

I suppose it goes to what anyone considers sinister. maybe we consider it just Dodgy ??

I think your part right there but...if he did spill the beans I think he maybe in real trouble in a legal sense. Surely he would have been bound under some sort confidentiality agreement. I don't think he would have been stupid enough to break his confidentiality agreement but wouldn't be surprised if he has pushed the letter of that agreement.

The PR thing, I just think it adds to the lies that have been told all along. I never believed their story from the beginning and now we are seeing why. I always thought Hird knew about the program which we now know is true and I have never gone along with the rogue elements idea that the PR machine has been spinning out there.

Not sinister...just more lies.

Regardless of whether it is sinister or not, unless ASADA etc were pre-warned and happy for Essendon to go first with their press conference (unlikely), it is a political blunder for AD to prompt Essendon to call that press conference. It would have been just as effective for Essendon to issue a press release immediately after the ASADA/govt announcement, without the downside of pissing ASADA off.

no sure about political blunder, though if it toally erupts it will be.

Certainly an ETHICAL one though

RPFC, by what right, power or otherwise does Vlad have for usurping the investigation and integrity of ASADA ?

He was told things that I have no doubt were meant to be kept within his own little grey Cells.

He chose to sing like a nightingale instead.

I understand his agenda, that doesnt make it right.

No such thing as an "OK list"

Just a Prohibited List (which includes a blanket - all new drugs not passed fit for human use)

WADA prohibited list

Maybe it is a ploy to damage the investigation?

It is very strange for a player to admit to taking a banned drug and for him to just 'suit up' for the next game.

Surely, the question of whether he should be playing next week should come up?

As an aside, an astounding lack of outrage from Robbo on this !

Usually operates on a hair-trigger for anything half controversial, but, this time, soft story, no accountability, nothing ..

Pretty pathetic bias

Unfortunately for the players involved, these are international rules of compliance. It is a big story that can't be played down or swept away.

AFL's usual controlled media spin is in trouble - quote Marke Evans yesterday "Watson's comments were not helpful" .. speaks volumes

KYLE RIEMERS.his story has been written and wont go away

Even it it doesn't 'totally erupt' in public, it may well be a blunder. Even without Hird or anyone saying things now, if AD breached confidence then you'd think ASADA would have already been [censored] off with him for the last few months. And that may well affect how they view any defences the AFL puts up in support of Essendon. Did Essendon gain enough by going first to outweigh this risk? I think not.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
