I have reservations about my ability to choose a coach because I was happy with Neeld when he was first appointed, however I'd like Roos and failing him Eade.

Mrs Robbie has ruled out Williams and Craig,, so they're off the agenda even though I kind of like the idea of Craig, I reckon he'd would get the best out of the players but if Mrs Robbie says no, then that's that.

One I'd like to see employed is Simon Black as a midfield assistant Coach, perhaps to Junior.

I'd give Stephen Wells, Brian Cook and Neil Balme more credit than Mark Thompson.

Wells for bringing the talent in, and Cook and Balme for setting up a support structure to develop that talent.

Thompson isn't a terrible coach, but he was fortunate in the same way Chris Scott is now.

I can't recall Bomba making any genius tactical moves that swung matches.

He didn't get blood from a stone in the way Ross Lyon can.

The culture was driven by the players.

You severely understate the importance of the HEAD coach. It's those coaches jobs to do those things. The head coach ultimately oversees and guides it.

Of course, Costa got Cook to come over, but they were still battling,, until the players finally bought in, as well, to change the bloody awful Culture they had had for decades.. the handbag culture, without any bricks in them.

I think it was Chappy, who was one of the main instigators, who stood up to the team & demanded they become more professional. & lose the carefree approach to their footy.

Bomba has 2 flags, & should have been 3.... Ross Lyon, the bridesmaid. he can have all the tactics he likes, but coaching's about winning flags & cups. he hasn't. still unproven as a AA grade afl coach. as far as home & away wins, he's great...

tactical, yeah the tactics where to choke, as the favourites... thats why. they choked. all the expectation was on the Cats.

... and the Hawks took free running, as the underdog. & away they went. the Cats, so many unforced errors, & simple skill errors, from their own pressure.

Geelong's score included 11 rushed behinds. Apart from that, the Cats kicked 11.12. The Hawks were the better team on the day but it could be argued that it was their accurate kicking for goal that won them the game. They kicked 18.7 which didn't include a rushed behind.

From memory, Mooney missed a couple of easy shots but that wasn't unusual for him.
