I can't see the AFL and opening their mouths saying they have spoken to ROOS, and they are letting him think about it.

If he says NO! How does the AFL then approach Choco or Eade and say would you like the job, but by the way you weren't our first choice.

My opinion would be IF the talks have taken place then he has accepted, but are waiting on the new board to be ratified, because the board has the responsibility for the signing.

Not Rumour, big news.

The AFL has, for all intensive purposes, taken over the MFC. The AFL alone will determine who will be Coach, President and CEO (Jackson). In my opinion this is a good thing.

The AFL/MFC have had further discussions with Roos and the MFC in conjunction with the AFL will make him a very lucrative offer which will include full power over the football department and priority or mini draft picks. The AFL/MFC are currently working on the offer after feedback from Roos and have informed Roos that the role is his if he wants it. The AFL/MFC are confident enough that they will not look at other coaches until Roos rejects the offer. I understand that the AFL/MFC feel he will likely accept the offer and consider him a better than 50/50 chance.

Make no mistake, If we land Roos it will be our Chris Judd moment (aka Carlton). I would argue this would be even bigger than Carlton's moment.

Interestingly the AFL have rejected Kennett, Stockdale and Freeman as President. All have had meetings with Demetrio, all have been told they don't have AFL support. Although the AFL can't stop these people standing and winning, the AFL has let the MFC know that getting their choice in President is part of the rescue package and if their choice does not get the role the AFL support can't be guaranteed. It is understood they have their own very high profile President in mind. Still no word on who this is.

Again this is all confirmed and not rumour. It comes from the same sources as my previous comments (for those who have been following)

Could anyone suggest a time that if Roos does sign when would it be announced? I just want to know for two reasons. One I want to see this done and two this thread is gonna be huge by the end of the year.

Rock bottom was Round 3 2013. We have been 'swimming with the fishes' since then. This week the AFL has untied the rope from our ankle and is dragging us out of the water.

This is the most excited I have felt about an upcoming game since Liam Jurrah started lighting it up in 2010. Paul Roos or Rodney Eade, both are coaches that encourage and are positive and will see flair return to our team. From this moment we begin the rise, how quickly it happens will be fun to watch.

This is a really good point, Chippy. It does present a certain conundrum. Bruised egos are a funny thing. Perhaps the mouths that opened are currently regretting their lapse? However, if the MFC has the potential to leak like a sieve, the AFL must also be vulnerable to such a lapse.

Let's hope that Roos simply accepts or has accepted.

I once thought the same thing, but given where we are now, I'll take boring and winning to one way football of Bailey and the stop start football (with smashings) of Neeld.

Having said that I'll be happy with either of Williams or Eade also.

for me it's a coin toss, I think both would be very, very good options

Choco probably has more runs on the board with inexperienced players (GWS will live to regret losing him big time IMO, massive setback. allow me to pause a moment to wipe away my crocodile tears), and a fiercely competitive nature. slightly unhinged though and will need to get the board on his side as much as the players

Roos has massive credits in the bank - which perhaprs shouldn't matter from a media perspctive, but in realty very much does - and can get players to run through brick walls for him. If he cant change the culture, no coach can

Watch the next few weeks and see how the payers respond. Work out whether there is a chance he could rebuild it and move from there. He has no time pressure.

Was watching fox footy last night and Eddie spaghetti, Barry hall, Jono and Roos were on it.

They were discussing how Roos can basically go to AD house for a cup of tea and leave with a bucket load of cash and other things.

If the AFL wanted to help save the club would only require some on field success which could be engineered by reminding the umpiring fraternity that the place we carry our numbers is our backs, the bits above the shoulders are neck and head, when a tackle is applied by a melb player it can be rewarded

Opposition players sitting on backs or heads of Melb players could be penalised, off the ball decisions can be payed in Melbs favour as well as against them. The protection of younger and slighter players can be emphasised to ensure there are less injuries and greater longevity for players.
