Just hope that Todd Viney is retained as list mananger rather than the rumour of Alliaster Lynch. Of all the old guard Todd Viney is the last one I would like to see as a casualty of Roos coming in [and in fact I think that he can do the job better].

He isn't list manager now so don't stress. He's GM of player development and strategy. Tim Harrington was LM and has not been replaced... Yet.

well I can vouch for me , and yeah you can unvouch someone , I had an ugly divorce so I can vouch for that !

That's the thing, OD. Good coaches continuously update and adapt their game plans, otherwise their teams get left behind. Roos will do this.

I think Neeld's gameplan was drawn on stone about 3000 years ago.

Absolutely spot. The fact Mike Sheehan son tim tweeted as early as round 2 about us talking to Roos was also true. AFL phone Roos and put in a case for him to come back to coaching. Neeld was a dead man walking as soon as Schwab got the sack. AFL got onto PJ and basically told him to start and look for a new coach as soon as he was appointed.

I was also told Roos has already courted 2 assistant coaches from current clubs and could be announced during his press conference.

The leadership group were on a massive high after meeting Roos and couldnt wipe the smiles off there face. Word basically got around to the players and there was genuine excitement around the place and lockeroom. PJ spoke to the players and told em to keep it on the low down until announced.

RobbieF is correct in staff have been told. Excitement first but alot of questions going around in who will be moved on when Roos comes on board.

Taylor Adams has spoke to the club. Doesnt seem interested but about to change. The Scott Selwood rumour is true. West Coast will play hardball.

Just on the leadership group meeting. The players were in absoloute awe of him. They all raved on how he has this presence and auroa about. When he talks there is a pin drop in the room. Roos put forward his coaching methods and what he had installed for them. Players were blown away.

Fantastic news on Roos mate!, cheers for the information, interesting about both T.Adams and S.Selwood? did the club speak to T.Adams before they knew Roosy was coming? exicting times a head, finally i can look forward to the football again

many forget that a lot of the Sydney game plan was tailored to the SCG its roughly one kick shorter than most and as such requires attention to ball movement. that why they locked it up so much. They themselves played different ( to a point ) on other larger grounds

Roos is no bumpkin. he will create plans and strategies to suit us as we are and as we develop. Im absolutely certain of this.

I have been in Sydney for the last two days having some meetings and am back at the Airport waiting for my flight home to Brisbane. Sitting here in my Demons Polo Shirt has brought a few people up asking if I work for the club!

Any rumours you want me to start?

Yes he spoke before the Roos 50/50 announcement. The GWS game he met with melbourne. And what i mean by its all about to change is that Adams was willing to chat again depending on who we picked as coach.

Told by a mate that Blues are heavily into Taylor Adams and Jack Watts. What he means by that is they have made very good offers. He said they will have a fair bit of spare salary cap room with Judd's contract dropping heavily and a few leaving. He is not saying the Blues will get either just that they have made good offers.

We will be in a similar position. Davey alone frees up $500k.MacDonald and Rodan should be another $3-400k. More to come.

Roos will be a huge bonus, as at the moment we stink in the AFL, for prospective players.

Lynch is a pr-ck and I don't want him anywhere near the MFC.

Agreed, and I am hopeful he will coach to the strengths of the team.

I agree. He's switched on. He'll coach to our strengths.

I don't think he ever wrote it out himself. He certainly struggled to communicate it clearly, seemingly. :P

I have have been paying close attention to this Paul Roos thing but it would be so easy to skip over something important while scanning through the 200 pages of speculation. (same goes with any thread)

Oh no he didn't ever write out his game plan - it was drawn many a years ago by some bored caveman.

Interesting that is exactly the same feedback I was given by my friend on the board.............................. who I may add went very silent on Roos after being adamant we were going to get him in May or early June. Clearly the board and administration smartly kept their mouth shut. This may have been a test......... so to speak. Certainly the old board and admin would have leaked this all day everyday and the deal would have been lost. The point is that no body knew how close things had got, despite obvious and clear on-going communications between the club and Roos. Well done to the club (assuming no last minute fcuk up!).

I asked my "friend" who was going to be coach a month ago after Roos had sort of said no publically, and he told me they were still confident in getting Roos. I reported this here at the time but it seemed few believed. I had even lost confidence.

There's some irony happening here?

If everyone's so quiet, how come you're posting on a public forum?

I would have imagined you would have been asked to keep it to yourself.

Like the trade draft and rumours where there are not many rumours and people ridiculous wish lists and trades that not ven a person with a iq of 3 would do those trades.

Great News Dazzle. I don't doubt what you are saying but is the time line right? If so that would mean that Schwab and Mclardy would have made the initial approach, or am I reading that wrong.

We've actually been courting Roos since 2002.

All he was waiting for was a 30 goal loss, Todd Viney's son to debut and a dwarf to be set on fire.

The planets are aligned.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
