The way I am feeling right now, they are just grains of sand.

I know the feeling - if it can be actualised it will be a good day for the club. Certainly the best day since 2006, maybe since 1987.

Or possibly earlier?

He's no dill Roos. The shift from 0% to a 50% public voicing is significant, to me, he is all but a Dee.

I suspect they are drip feeding the media and public perception out of respect to NC and further negotiations with AFL. This is smart as it seems he is warming to the decision rather than an handshake agreement being in place for some time.

Finally, there isn't enough bronze in the world for the statue PJ deserves if he is successful with Roos, Walsh and a key assistant.

This really could be the awakening of a sleeping giant.

Those worried about the $2m price tag - it is never as high as it is first reported - and we will get 10k lapsed members just from his presence and sponsors will come out of the woodwork to have their name on his left [censored] if he is coaching the club.

He will bring in more than he takes.

Do you think that will be written into the sponsorship contract? A tattoo of the company's logo on his left one? Edited by Mickey 'O'

He wouldn't voice it publicly and then turn around and say no, he would look stupid.

I thought last night it may have been a message for Dees fans in a way, Eade pulls out, Craig seeminly going to take over even though he hasn't done fantastically well,

Roos saying that has clearly given us all alot of heart and hope, makes us more attractive to the players we are chasing, sponsors and so on will be more interested in getting on board, out of contract players will be more interested in staying.

$2 mill a year. PJ is not mucking around.

Roos will need 5 years, but the $$$ generated will pay.

Gotta spend money to make money my mum always told me....

I think the Demons need to roll the dice here. We should consider offering Paul Roos a 5 million dollar, 5 year contract. I know it's a big risk, however, we need to give Paul Roos plenty of time to fix up our football team. Plus it will give Demons supporters hope and a bit of patience.

Nevertheless, I must admit I'm surprised by Paul Roos changing his mind. I was of the opinion that we should get Mark Williams. All I can say, is that I want Paul Roos to put his heart and soul into the Melbourne Football Club if he wants to coach us!

While I am very nervous stating this I would hope if you are correct that that is one of the KPI. Hell pay him a percentage of increase if necessary.

BUt and I am a fan of Poos

I would hope he is coming to further enhance his record by showing how a he can enhance and influence a great club not just for the money but for the recognition that Melbourne bestows on champions.

I saw Roos play, had close mates who were Roys supporters and went to some of the fitzroy meetings in their final years

Roos was seen by some as a bit of a pariah but by others as a bit of a visionary acknowledging what could be rather than what was.

I have seen some of his comments at Sydney in the same light and hope that he is continuing this philosophy.

I hope he sees us a another challenge to improve rather than a cash cow. I trust PJ and the board are establishing this.

I think his credibility as a coach and player will entail with with a respect that will improve all our players.

Bonus if we have the panel suuggested above with Ling etc

Couldn't see Roos signing if he thought half the list would be suspended by Asada or something so i suppose that means everyone is fairly confident that we are in the clear there too?

Don't get excited. Don't get excited. This is Melbourne, they could still bring Neeld back. Anything bad can and will happen. Don't get excited.

Ah stuff it, it's PARTY TIME!

Best possible nearly birthday present ever.

Not a consipracy, common sense, would you sign if you thought we were going to go through what Essendon just went through?

Hope he can coach, 2 million is massive bucks.

Maybe I misunderstood what you mean, but any coach would be looking at all factors, including the drug issue. It's an overly optimistic to suggest that the 'fact' that Roos may coach implies we are clear on the drug issue, but it at least means he feels we are clear enough to risk it. Or maybe it's one of the things leading to him not being 100% yet until he learns more. Would anyone but the desperate touch Essendon with a 10 foot pole?

Excited about everything posulated in the article about the people Roos may bring with him but nevertheless be nice to see a (respectful) role within the structure for Craig who has had a positive influence on the Club and who is acting as a good spokesperson since the departure of Neeld.

Things seem to be falling into place nicely, Tudor would be a fantastic get for MFC, would be intersting to see if Roos would keep any of the current coaches on, Craig and Rawlings have both been quite reasonable for the club, maybe a coaching Panel of,

Roos

Tudor

Ling

Kennelly

Rawlings

the merry-go-round begins, start the music Mr conductor.

I reckon a complete turn of the page will see a totally fresh start in virtually all skills based footy dept' positions... complete. the recruiting team, i'm not sure. but I reckon all old boys out of there.

* a totally new attitude, with totally new values, starts with a clean sweep, imo. just as the list was being done last year... its harder to do with the list of course.

Positive on the club like Neeld was? And still is?

Yes.

Finally the AFL has realized that Big $$$ can be generated from our club the MFC.

There is no reason we cannot be a top earner from Victoria.

I was told last night that both St. Kilda & Footscray are in dire financial trouble courtesy of Etihad. The AFL NEED the MFC to be generating $$$ not draining.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
