I still believe Roos will coach us......1.5 Mil per year is hard to turn down, and i doubt the Lions could go anywhere near it.

I believe the Lions could. It's a two club state and Roos would bring out the old Fitzroy crowd and turn it back into memeberships not to mention potential sponsors getting in on the Paul Roos hype.

I agree, if I was Paul Roos I'd find the prospect of coaching MFC more attractive than coaching Brisbane.

Perhaps that is my bias shining through, but I just think we have some real talent coming through and with the prospect of a PP we are well placed.

Brisbane will possibly lose Black and Brown and that will set them back next year and I don't see real rapid improvement after that.

I don't rate Brisbane as much as most and I think Voss overachieved last year - and that has ultimately been his downfall, Brissy are at now - where they should be.

Better if we can announce our Footy Manager.

If the president is in place as soon as today we can really step up our chase of Roos

Walsh?

got a feeling all of this has been in the pipeline for a month

for once weve got aprez with the gift of the gab and smarts

patience and a coldee will get us to look at 2014 with hope

Wouldn't it be great, new Prez stands up in front of his first Prez lunch on Sunday, and just goes I have a few announcements to make, 1 we have a new footy manager Walsh, that will be working closely with our new coach Paul Roos. Whack whack the hope comes back.

Not going to happen but we must have some sort of good news this season

another puzzle.piece falls into place, i love how we are taking the time to get it right.

if not walsh, could we get the rev in as footy manager?

Better if we can announce our Footy Manager.

I think that would be one of the planks Roos would want fixed, as well as our alignment in the VFL. He would want certainty that we can turn around our inability to develop our kids.

* so footy manager who may still be employed elsewhere?

* president?

* vfl development

* afl assistance

* board structure

* assistant coaches

its Not about money alone, or desire to coach.. I'm sure its about which team gives him the best excitement/challenge, & security of having the right support people in Key positions to achieve success.

I sense we will be making announcements at the end of the season, first week of September. & some later.

I doubt the Lions would have sacked Voss with just 3 rounds to go if they didn't have their man 26. Might be just a matter of securing support from the AFL for additional funding now. Roos may well have already agreed "in principal" to coaching them, albeit subject to dotting enough i's and lining his pockets with the right amount of folding stuff/contract terms etc.

True, I reckon the Lions have already have their man, why would they sack Voss when he was doing a good job and not have an immediate replacement? I do think Roos has already agreed but wanted to give it some time after sacking Voss cos he is man of integrity and didn't want to step into the Lions position on the same day as Voss got sacked.

Heard on SEN around lunch today that there is supposedly a bidding war between Pies and Blues for Neeldy....

Desperate times, I'd be going for Vossy over Neeld as an assistant in a heart beat!

I agree. The funniest part was that when I heard it I was in the car with a blues supporter. The look on his face was priceless....

You can just imagine how much s+#t I gave him.

Neeld will be an excellent addition as an assistant coach for any team. Look at what he did with Collingwood.

He clearly just wasn't ready for the senior role. He may still become a very good senior coach in the future and it's not a surprise that his services are sought after imo.

neeld i reckon has the tools to be a good senior coach second time round

There may be a flip side to Neeldy going to the Blues...

Jack watts will be thinking no way will I be going there now :)

    UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

    Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
