I understand , but you need to have something as we really dont need anymore 17year old kids , we really need some ready made players

I guess they need to find some middle ground but what ? we need to be more competitive now and not later ,

I agree 100% about the senior players not kids, but if that is the official rule other clubs will exploit it. If we say "top line player or top 10 draft pick" clubs may be more inclined to deal, if we say "top line player" they will probably counter with second rung players.

I don't mind if they're is an AFL directive to trade for players, or if the AFL need to approve any trade first to make sure they will provide immediate impact, I just don't want that directive to be official as it may hamstring our negotiation position.

I don't think we will at all. We just have to become more agressive in the business market & stop giving jobs to mates.

no, I don't want us to fold. Quite the opposite. I just asked whether we thought the AFL might be starting to wonder how long their PR department can stomach tidying up after us. Whether the smell of failure might be getting a bit strong.

My fear is that it is, and that we may be running out of chances. I'm interested to know how come you are now not contemplating possible extinction - I thought that had been on your mind quite a bit.

I imagine the AFL would act decisively if they got to the point of feeling we were terminal. So I agree totally with your last point - go outside the blue-rinse oldboys, and do what we have to to get runs on the board, fast and without any backward steps. Wipe aside anyone who wants to say "yes, but it'll take years..." - it's time for people who CAN.

There is no point MFC getting more draft pick concessions....they'll stuff it up.

How bout giving the picks to someone like GFC, HFC, West Coast, Sydney etc.... who have the infrastructure and common sense skills to choose good players...

then let them develop them for 2 years... before finally sending them straight to the MFC after they have proven AFL ability/potential yet still young

Call these draft picks+development concessions relevant for the new free agency era.

Im sure the rest of the competition would agree to this ...then we could finally once and all conclude that the coach is a dud or not ...without other possible causes eg bad players or bad club culture blahblah

I just don't get why people think we will still shank our picks.

Hasn't anyone realised that we have Jason Taylor now? And that Viney did a pretty good job last draft?
