FFS how can you not put any blame on the coach?

Of course we have some players who aren't up to it, and of course we are young and inexperienced, but we have a decent forward and back lines to build around, and a handful of potentially good mids. We are NOT this bad, we weren't under Bailey (when the team was just as inexperienced and had no Clark, no Dawes, and Jones in lesser form).

The game plan makes no sense, the match ups are bewildering, our set up is strange, and pre match selection is completely off most weeks. Most importantly, there is no intensity, no hunger, no fight, nothing. Our players clearly have lost all confidence, all desire. It is on the coach to resurrect that. Instead, he's destroyed it week in week out.

So how the hell can our coaching panel, and our senior coach who has turned over nearly half a list since he's come on board, not take accountability?

A new coach will not turn us into a finals team over night, but FFS, we can't be any worse.

I agree except that the second FFS should have been an FMD.

I thought I was over the dross being served up and could watch with relative equanimity but well before half-time had sunk to a new level of depression.

I've heard it all now .

The Age has a nice picture of Sellars trying to spoil Dunn and Garland with a story about how the players literally weren't receiving the message from the coaches box due to a tech fault .

I must have been a bad bastard in a past life.

but this is too much .

I think they are avoiding it.

No mention at all on Twitter etc.

We'd be an organized team under Ross Lyon, we weren't anywhere near clever enough to nail him, the difference between now and then is -CS +PJ I am seriously just hoping and praying for Professionalism.

Reckon Neeld will have Haw and Coll before a decision is made. Either he goes around the time of the bye or they'll give him to the end of the year. God who'd want the job as caretaker...

Don't worry: there are some here who seem to think that Roos or Eade will be chomping at the bit to join us :-))))))

Was there one?

"Won the third, and were competitive for the first two minutes"!

I'll see your Wigan Athletic and raise you a Plymouth Argyle (lifelong).

The one thing you need at Subi are hard working flankers who push up the ground and work hard defensively and offensively. I think until half time Tapscott, Byrnes and Jetta had 5 touches between them. All three should be dropped next week as they were all pathetic. As should Dunn who coughed the ball 4 times just to avoid body contact. Our lack of run in the first half was a disgrace. Not much else worth saying.

I watched it and thought at 1/4 time our loss would be worse than essendon. I knew we wernt going to win. Im not sure what can happen. Its not like you can give them a dose of confidence to drink.

At least we arent nth melbourne who again gave up a lead. 9 minutes to go and they are 30 points up and lose. They are expected to make finals. Richmond the same. Failed in a big game. I hope the media put the heat on them. We are crap there isnt much more to write about us that hasnt already been said.

We should just get to the bye have a few days off then get back for the 2nd half of the year.

Dont know about you guys but I find myself supporting the opposition during games. The more we get thumoed the sooner Neeld will be gone. You know what they say "it is what it is"

This is exactly what I said prior to the game olisik.

Very sad situation indeed.

I'd rather be in North's position than ours. Ridiculous. And there's plenty to write about us. Sack the coach, they'll be saying.

Average games per player:

  • Fremantle - 77.2
  • Melbourne - 58.5

We had 11 players with less than 50 games. They had 8. We had 6 players with 100 or more games, they had 7 (granted, 4 of theirs are 150+ to our 1).

Average age:

  • Fremantle - 25 years 3 months
  • Melbourne - 24 years 2 months

With facts like that do you want to be our next coach?

We have do e much much worse , but I reckon Gary Ayres would be a good fit!!he is well respected and he has coached before !

I know this will cause a big song and dance by Demonlanders , but i am ready for desperate measures to get us out of this mess that couple of newbie coaches have put us in !

Nothing wrong with Conan.

Ayers may be the one. He has been there before and can use an assistant coach to understand the intricacies of the modern game. I think man on man might work well for the first half of next season. Is it that complicated to get competitive? I suspect not. In short we won't attract any super coach I can think of to coach this rabble of a list and club.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
