haha agreed

both had good periods and bad periods - overall not good enough... but in our situation we have to take anyone who'll give 100%

Again i agree both not up to AFL standard

Add bail to that list.

Posted

without a doubt the biggest liabilities on the field for us today.

Kicked into the man of the mark, killed our run and attack. Furious these amateur footballers get gifted AFL games.

Posted

Ho replaces them? I go on about it but I'm certain Taggert could take Nicholsons role.

The best game I ever saw McKenzie play he had 19 handballs and 1 kick. he is a competent tagger, but should never be allowed to kick the ball. I scream at the Teev don't give it Mckenzie, but hey never listen !!!!

No room in the team for players who can't kick.

Yeah, the tagger and the half back flank with the terrible kick.

Yeah, THAT is why we are bad...

WTF?

Can you not treat the thread as it's intended?

Didn't say it was champ, but they are two awful awful footballers who should never don the red and blue again.

Happy for Alastair Nicholson to dust off the black reeboks and have a kick again than have these [censored] play next week.

Well it certainly ain't helping.

Only saw the 2nd half, listened to radio til half time. Wasn't McKenzie playing on Deledio, who was v quiet? Saw both Nich and McK kick into the man on mark, awfully costly, but were they that bad? Commentators wrapt in Nich's goal

Get out

Right now they are starting 22. At least they have a crack. Today was the first game I watched every quarter. Mainly because these two blokes will tackle, harass, spoil etc.

It's guys like blease who have twice the talent yet still can't tackle after 5 years that are the problem.

And let taggert learn the game and get in the best a few times at casey before promoting him.

Posted

These two get no respect, and it's a shame. They are clearly not AFL standard, but they possess qualities we lack and until someone decides to start beating down the door at VFL level, these two will be in the side more often than not.

It's a pity we have to play them, but that's the way it is right now.

With Bail - Delist.

Bail is fast becoming this decade's Newton.

Posted

You know, actually, it is.

Today we actually gave a stuff, but it's our bottom group which is killing us.

McKenzie and Nicholson are firmly in that bottom group. Neither of them are AFL standard. They're not the only ones, sure, but they're part of the reason why we're stagnant.

Mate I thought we knew better than to use that appalling language. Disgraceful!

Posted

Both these two made horrible blunders late in the game that killed our confidence, and swung the momentum back to the tiges.

McKenzie gets the ball centre side of CHF,His peripheral vision is so poor he does not see the two free Dees players at half-forward until a Tiges players has closed down the space. He kicks the ball as if the Tiges players is not there. Kicks into him - turnover -goal.

Nicho - who played some really good footy and actually kicked well a ttimes - runs inside 50. He has a Dees player 10m to his right free. He ignores that option - chooses to take the body tackle without raising his arms out of the tackle, and gets pinged. Turnover. Goal.

These two acts stuffed up a really good effort today.

I would not go as far to say get out, but I was so angry at both these points. Can we not try Taggert / Tynan / Davis insread of these two?

Totally unnecessary language. You need to apologise to fellow Demonlanders who have family members struggling with physical disabilities. Come on, we stopped using this gutter lingo 20 years ago.

We're bad because we have no targets 50-80 metres out from goal. We need to either recruit a rich man's Brad Miller, or transform one of our many promising tall forwards into that kind of player. We consistently fall down in this area, and it kills us every time. I'm now convinced that this is the reason we're so bad.

In fact, this might be the perfect role for Jack Watts. He has good endurance, can take a mark and has a great kick. Get it done Neeldy!

Posted

Bail was awful.

Caught out of position a few times so he simply failed to compete or put any pressure on his opponent.

Scouted on goal, which was ok, but when he lined up for that deliberate shot in the last quarter I just knew he would miss.

Just not good enough.

And rpfc if you don't get how McKenzie kicking into the man on the mark killed us as we were pushing then you seriously underestimate the damage he did. A+ for effort but the skills just are not there and miskicks killed us today.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
